Uh-oh, this doesn't sound like good news at all. Square Enix was asked at a Japanese press meeting about the release of Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, Xbox 360) (and Dragon Quest IX), specifically if it will be out within this fiscal year. The reply: "I'll try!"

The source article from Final Fantasy Union did not indicate who exactly uttered those words, but regardless, the statement - in full or in part - is not in the least bit reassuring. The exact words of the Square Enix rep who answered the question on the release date was this: "God knows... Is the truth (laughs). I'll try!"

The Final Fantasy XIII  demo which came out with Advent Children Complete tagged a Winter 2009 release date. But based on the statement above, prepare yourselves for a 2010 release -- which could mean a much later launch for the Western world. Keep your fingers tightly crossed that this ain't so.

They tend to be perfectionists, which is what makes their stuff good. That being said, they aren't exactly... timely.

Totally agreed, give us the demo, let us fester on it. If it's good, people will be foaming at the mouth to play it. If it's bad, well... I suppose you could just do what your doing now. From the video I'm almost positive it's the former, so I'm wondering whats the deal.
