He said that after MGS3 too. After that game, he came up with 2 MGA's, they're working on MGS:PO, and MGS4.
And even if this really WILL be his last, then at least he gave us some games to remember.

Snake should die. I doubt, with the formation of Kojima studios, that another MGS will be headed by Kojima himself. he is moving forward. MGS should not die however, so i would love for Solid Snake to end and a future Metal Gear series to be scripted by Kojima, but directed by another (he has expressed intrest in scripting and not directing in future).

a series of games has to be carefully retired, if it's too early people will be clamouring for more, if it's too late the legacy will be ruined by rubbish sequels and cynical cashing in on the license... if mgs4 is all it's cracked up to be it would be the perfect finish, i say make the best game ever (mgs4) and have snake die. let metal gear solid go out with a bang, not a whimper.

You guys gotta understand... he really wants to make new games. He's a creative guy so he wants to work on more than just Metal Gear. He's done a few things, like the Boktai series, but nothing big on consoles yet. I'm not sure if he's involved with Elebits for the Wii or not. I know he was interested in developing for it, so that might be his next project?

What are you talking about comment # 14? Kojima already said he won't be bringing any of the MGS games beyond Playstation. He said they were made for each other, because both the Playstation and MGS were new and are best together. I know many of you want it on the 360, but it just won't happen no matter what Microsoft tries to do. Sony won't allow it either.

Well that will be a real shame if MGS comes to an end. I've been playing it since the first Metal Gear. But I have a felling that if they do kill solid Snake they will make a spin off game involving another character, but i hope to god its not raiden. LOL

KOJIMA always said that, but now that he´s swimming in money ke might do other games to the Wii or whatever, but I remember that he said if players wanted more metal gear he´s going to do more metal gears, maybe in more years so far ... imagine Metal gear solid 5 or sumthin.... for PS3 obiously (Xbox 360 users might thought ... maybe for 360? But no! sorry lol.. poor guys... ) anyway I believe ppl are going to demand a new MGS after the 4th one. Thats one of the best PS franchise and even game franchise, (note the apparition of snake in the new smash bros for Wii). Everybody loves MGS, and saying that is like saying there will not be more Zelda´s... obiously wrong. Thanks

You know, Kojima has this type of humor. When asked in an interview if Snake will die, he answered that there is a deeper meaning to that. Meaning just because it looks like he was about to kill him self, doesen't mean he is going to die. It symbolizes something else. That is why its so fun to play the game to see what crazy (in a good way) ideas Kojima got next!

i do think that MGS4 is a good time to end it but don't kill him, after all he's been thrugh i would hate to see him die, i just like to see in the end of the game him have a house somwhere enjoying the world he saved again. also if you think about it killing the main person is not original, in fact its geting old! i have played too manny games latly that kill the main person in the end
