UPDATE: Updates do come quickly! Our internet hamsters just sniffed out news that despite the bundled offer ending this month for our Australian friends, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has assured that there are no plans  to discontinue the bundled offer in Europe or in the rest of the PAL regions. As Sony Europe's spokesperson said: "There is absolutely no time limit on that offer in Europe."

Sony PlayStation 3 - Image 1A bit of bad news for those living in the land Down Under: PlayStation's official website sent out emails regarding the availability of the reported PS3 bonus bundles for Aussie gamers starting August 3. The fine print in the email stated that the offer will end on August 31, or earlier, while stocks last, which means that the bonus bundle is good for less than a month.

GameSpot tried to contact Sony to confirm the news, but they were told that the dates were correct. Sony did not give any indication if there will be any replacements for the offers.

The bonus bundle which costs AU$ 999.95 includes two SIXAXIS controllers and two games (Resistance: Fall of Man and MotorStorm).

It could be a hint to what's in store for the PS3 60GB SKU: Does it mean that, like all offers, the 60GB PS3 will just revert to its original pricing in Australia, or are 60GB PS3s stocks expected to last only until end of August, at least in Australia? Kaz Hirai did mention that 60GB PS3s are no longer in production, and are just waiting for the current stock to be completely replaced by the 80GB units.

More updates as they come.

 » Thats a shame

That's a shame. It doesnt seem like it, but that's a good deal for that package.

Im fairly sure AUS and CDN dollars are fairly close. I paid $550 CDN (after price drop) for my unit. $100 for a no-limit one year warranty on the unit. $70 for Motorstorm and $60 for a second SIXAXIS.

All that added up + taxes comes to over $900 and thats 1 game short of the Aussie bundle. Tack on RFOM and thats a cool G-note I'd say.

Oh noes! You have to buy now or else you'll get ripped off even more! Rather than make the price reasonable, they throw in extra crap and call it "starter pack" and you can save some paltry amount if you actually want those things.

Next sony will announce they are discontinuing the 80gb models, to be replaced with a 100gb PS3 costing $700. This new model will take away the Wi-Fi, memory card reader, and emotion engine. They will throw in 10 of the worst selling blu ray movies to help the sales figures though.

» This is the same in NZ

This is the same for New Zealand, although I think our cut off date is a little longer, possibly september.
