120-160GB PS3 with Dual Shock 3 to come in 2008? - Image 1

Rumors are something we know we shouldn't believe in but we remain drawn to it otherwise. Maybe it's because these gossips contain juicy information that we just can't stop thinking about. An insider from Sony was able to divulge information that the company has plans of bringing out the 120-160 GB models of the PS3.

He added that these 120-160 GB models will be coming out with the same price as the 80GB model. The release of these models will have the new Dual Shock 3 controllers as well.

Even though Sony has released a "no comment" statement regarding the rumor spreading, the insider said that the company will phase out the 80 GB PS3 along with the Spider-Man 3 pack-in bundle.

Right now, everything is still up in the air. No official word has been released regarding the developments that were mentioned. We'll keep you updated on the events to come.

 » what the point

who really needs that much memory anyways my 60gig is good enough

60gigs isn't that much if you use all functions of the PS3. I have a 500 GB HDD in it and 60 gigs are full alone of videos. Now together with some music, demos and games and 150 GB are used...
Now as you know, some games install data on the HDD. Imagine you have a nice collection of these games. Wow, 200 GB isn't that much, eh?

a hell of a lot of music and a couple of videos. I have the 60GB version and have no problems at all with it.

Probably why they're taking down a lot of the 80GB models.

But I actually wish they would sell the boomer-rang looking controll. Looks pretty kool to me (dont see why people complained so much about it).

   Re: Apu - 2008-01-28
 » Lol

Thats the reason why people complained about it, it looked like a boomerang. IMO, if gaming consoles wanted to go for a sexy look, I would call apple.

   Re: Eclipze_ - 2008-01-28
 » The ps3 is sexy ^_-

But seriously if the color was silver like in that picture it looks like it matchs. I wish they would sell this as a 3rd party controller or somthing (or if logictech made it). Add rumble and keep sixaxis (obviously) and it would be kool!

 » Way too confusing

They should just have one SKU that's it...it's too confusing for consumers.

 » hey guys

if you're not happy with the 60/80 gig, or even 40 for that matter, then get yourself an external hard drive and format it to fat32!

not everyone here wants to take a screwdriver to their ps3, and who could blame them so for them, this is their best option!!

im hopefully gonna get a 250 gig sata drive and have a go myself though coz im one of those folk who can't help themselves lol!!

   Re: Eclipze_ - 2008-01-29
 » get me one too

lol

   Re: Silver-Tiger - 2008-01-29
 » ...

ehhh.. You don't even need a screwdriver...
just open the cover of the HDD, click the yellow lever, and pull out the HDD. new one in, yellow lever up, and cover on it, finished....

No void of guarantee, no work, no problems....

 » oops silly me lol

havent looked at it to be honest, but made an assumption!!

sorry folks, but then again, you could go as high as you wanted with a desktop hard drive and an external usb case!!! don't think you would get a 750 gig sata laptop drive as cheap!

terabytes, anyone?? lol!!

   Re: na2rul - 2008-01-30
