If anything Microsoft will appreciate more Xbox 360 owners being driven to the Live Video Store as it makes more margin on HD content supply from XBL than via the HD DVD platform. |

All I can say is...
BOO-YAH!
HAHAHAHHA... >_>
I win... at guessing.
Actually it was kinda a given after Sony kinda forced Ps3 owners to buy blu-ray movies -_-;;;

Maybe. I won't say yes and I won't say no. Personally, I wouldn't because I think its too expensive and I think netflix + blu-ray is chaper, but meh. I think renting > buying :3
"sony kinda forced Ps3 owners to buy blu-ray movies"??
Just to tell you I own a 60GB ps3 and only own 1 blu-ray movie, that one movie was sent in the mail BY sony for FREE (the 007 movie). Just want to get it clear we're not being "forced" to do anything at all, either you buy movies or you dont and its your/the person's choice.
Last time i checked nobody from sony forced me to buy a blu-ray movie....I own 2 and those were sent by sony for free...When I want a blu-ray movie I will by a blu-ray movie nobody will force me to so ...
I think Khjar meant it in another way. There were alternatives for a standalone Blu-Ray player, but they were pretty much stupid if you could buy the PS3 for a few bucks more with much more features, so Sony kinda "forced" all Blu-Ray-Lovers to buy a PS3.
Who pays these analysts.. I mean really?? Eating beans will give you gas. I think this is a no brainer seriously.
I seriously doubt Microsoft would include a blu ray player in the 360 or even offer a player add on since sony is a competitor and the games don't use the format anyway.
MS will probably avoid adopting Blu-ray as to doing so would acre-did Sony as a winner and them as losers for backing the now dead Hd-dvd...
Not only that but they will use HD-Dvd's death to their advantage by indirectly forcing digital content downloads through Live (MS's ultimate goal for both console and pc's)even more easily now that the consumer who already bought a 360 has no longer the choice as regards HD content.
I feel that MS benefited from the outcome of the format war this way around...
The real question remains...What will be the next format to be used in MS's new system?
Surely DVD9 will not be dragged to the next generation this time...
One thing about digital content is that not all xbox 360's have hard drives. How are you supposed to keep downloading movies like you would buy blu-rays?
I still think in the end blu-ray wins over HD-DVD AND digital movie downloads because of space. Eventually the 120 GB 360's can run out of space while I can still be buying blu-rays untill my house is full of them lol.
Like I am sooooooo buying a PS3 now. Darn I need to get off the net and get on my phone to pre-order one right freaking now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On 2nd thought.. nah....
you need to get off the net and get a life, if you think thats funny then you seriously have issues.
Like i said before MS adding a blu-ray player isn't going to benefit them at all. If it was standard yes, but not optional.
Eclipze_ said it best really, Blu-ray owns HD-DVD and Digital Downloading, cause i don't want to download a huge movie that takes up 20GB, and that will take up to hours on end to finish it.
i actually sent a tip to QJ yesterday about a piece on www.cdfreaks.com, saying that microsoft has officially came out and said that the 360 will get an external bluray drive!!
heres the link folks!
