Analysts: Sony will be doing much better - Image 1Whether you love Sony or hate it, it's common knowledge that they didn't have a good year last year and their recent financial reports have confirmed it. The massive recall of 9.6 million laptop batteries and the launch costs of the PlayStation 3 really took its toll on the company.

Analysts say that the company is due for a rebound, though. Tomomi Yamashita, senior fund manager at Shinkin Asset Management, spoke on the company and the problems that Sony is trying to fix.

The forecast looks really good. It will be a matter of whether the company can actually achieve that goal. Investors think highly of Sony's efforts to turn around its struggling electronics business. Now it's game business is underperforming, and whether it can fix that too will be closely watched.

The company will be making its rebound with a new range of products, and expects the charge to be led by their line of LCD TVs as well as a better showing from the PlayStation Portable. Sony has warned, though, that their game division may be in the red for some time due to last year's operating loss of about 232 billion yen.

 » well...

Sony couldn't possibly do any worse than last year.

At least Ken Kutaragi quit. That's a step in the right direction.

 » 2 Billion US

I had to run that number through a currency convertor. 232 billion Yen equals 1.9 billion American. WHEW! That's a whole lotta' cash to have in the red.... for only 1 year, even.

The only problem is that the analysts aren't going to buy the consoles.
Anyone with an opinion can be called an analyst, so I guess Sony will be attacked by aliens, making the company super-popular, and so they get daily hadware sales of about 2,000,000.

You think my opinion is so-not-true? At least it is unbiased and sincere.
