It seems like developer Grin has had a bad May. Despite its roots and the positive reception that met Bionic Commando: Rearmed, the studio's Bionic Commando was only able to sell 27,000 units in the US during its opening month. That number includes sales of both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions over the period of May 19 to May 30. Gamasutra also reports that another Grin-developed title, Terminator Salvation, sold moderately higher than Bionic Commando with 43,000 units sold. Of course, the tie-in Salvation launched close to the movie of the same name, so the higher numbers aren't that surprising. Related articles:

I played the multiplayer demo, for like 3 minutes, deleted it and got mad at myself for wasting 3 minutes of my life. The game got what it deserves, I much rather play the original.

» MP Demo sucks...
You really shouldn't judge the entire game based on the multiplayer demo.
Honestly, I think they shot themselves in the foot by not releasing a real demo.

» Heh,
Well it was as fun as getting a abortion out your ass. So that explains it.

I'm one of the 27k who actually purchased the game, and have successfully completed said game.
Am I as disappointed in Bionic Commando as much as people who obviously haven't remotely played the game? No.
Bionic Commando's problems lie in level designs that work for a 2d side scroller not a 3d open world adventure, an abysmal story, and a total of about 10 hours of game play.
The game is in no way broken. Just... not great.
Die hard fans of the original (like myself) may enjoy this more than your average gamer. Repeating a level for 45 minutes because you keep missing the same f***ing grappling point takes a special kinda stupid that some players of the original can empathize with and are used to in a Bionic Commando game.
What this game truly succeeds in, is wetting the appetite for a next installment that fixes the issues that plague this attempt.
But those numbers don't give me any hope for another BC game anytime soon. Any takers on another 20 year wait?

I bought and beat the game as well. My only beef with the game was the story. They tried too hard to fit todays antihero mold. If they kept the same happy go lucky Rad Spencer from the first game, they could have at least got on the old school fans. I love how people say this game sucks because they played the multiplayer demo. Multiplayer was an afterthought, i havent even played it. And yes it is frustrating at times, its called challenging, something that has been lost in todays instant gratification games. I'm playing prototype right now and the gameplay is very similar, but i have to work a whole lot harder in BC to get the job done. Just sayin

Haven't played this one but I found Rearmed to be near enough unplayable and tedious. Ugly as hell too.

God! I actually liked the old '80s arcade game better than the original NES game.
Rearmed is so much better and easier, mostly because it actually saves your progress instead of making you start from scratch when you loose all lives.
