Casino Royale - Image 1 When you combine a blockbuster movie and a hot new high-definition movie player, you will definitely get chart-breaking sales. "Casino Royale," the James Bond movie starring 007 newbie Daniel Craig has hit the 100,000 units shipped marked. The movie has set the record for the most number of high definition copies sold in one day.

So what's the point of getting a Blu-ray copy of "Casino Royale?" Director Martin Campbell says, "It’s just unbelievable. Clearly, it’s fantastic. The comparison between standard def DVD and Blu-ray is quite stunning and quite transparent to the master. It’s precisely what would make me want to buy a copy."

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment President David Bishop says that the Blu-ray company is committed to bring consumers the best picture and sound quality available. If you haven't tried watching a Blu-ray movie, maybe now is the time to. Sony Pictures has a great lineup of movies still to come.

 » Why bother buying it.....

...When sony are giving away half a million copies to those that registered online on or after 23rd march? I registered at 2am on the 23rd so I know my copy will arrive in the next few weeks! In the mean time, I can sit back with the 4 blu ray movies I already own, each of which are simply fantastic!

Glad to see blu-ray sales are flying though, it gives me a bit more peace that im investing in the right technology!

 » "Free copies NOT included"

@ yeh...
The 500k copies of the EU and elsewhere are not included. With the NA launch Sony gave 500k Ricky Bobby movies....they were NOT included either.
So, this is actual sales.

PS
I have a VERY hard time watching a standard DVD movie even if it plays on my upconverting DVD player.
Upconversion and Native on Blu-ray....there is ABSOlutley no comparison.
Anyone that says upscaling is almost as good....well you have not seen Blu-ray.
If you have...you would not say that.
My wife even agrees with me, and up till now, she could care less about picture resolution, clarity, color depth, uncompressed sounds etc etc.

I do want Blu-ray to "win" mainly because I have a PS3...but nevertheless....Have you tried Best Buy?
The Best Buy by my house (burbs of Chicago)
has many HDDVD's, not as many as Blu-ray, but they have quite a few.

 » Hey guess what Xbots?

Microsoft is dumping the HD-DVD add on because it's an utter failure! They're introducing the Blu-Ray add on later this year or possibly next year. In other words they're saying: "Hey, thanks for buying the HD-DVD add on but it's a failure so we're making Blu-Rays! Please buy it and give us even more money. Your old HD-DVD add on is obsolete? We don't give a *****! We only care about money!"

» WOW I DIDNT MS HAD A CRYSTAL BALL??!!??

Im sorry, I know many people bought the HD Player but that was their fault, they should have waited. MS don't have a crystal ball which shows them which format wins u know.

 » great disc

This movie was sold out at BB, CC and Fry's in the NW area during the first week. I got it the following week as a show-off movie for the system. Actually, Ice Age was visually more impressive, but that is animation.
