Long after Namco Bandai somewhat revived the visceral beat 'em up Splatterhouse by making it available on the Nintendo Wii, we now know the hair-raising arcade game is getting its next-gen treatment. Before the official announcement, new details pertaining to the upcoming title for Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 have spilled over.

BottleRocket Entertainment, known for its work on Mark of Kri and Rise of the Kasai, reportedly signed up to develop the survival horror/beat 'em up hybrid for Namco Bandai. This actually sounds promising as already noted by 1UP, considering the developer's expertise in head-on action.

Splatterhouse is scheduled for release mid-2009 with all the violence of the arcade original intact. We'll have to wait until Namco Bandai decides to open up for more details, but you can check out the artwork on top to get an idea what the game will be like.
