Chart-Track: Metal Gear Solid 4 had

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots made a remarkable entrance in the UK Charts when it debuted, stomping out Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures from first place, despite the game only being out for only three days.

Despite this remarkable success though, it seems that Dorian Bloch of Chart-Track, a market research company for media products in the UK, is not impressed with MGS 4's performance as the PlayStation 3's current flagship.

According to Bloch, Guns of the Patriots didn't do much to help with hardware sales, saying: "There's not a lot to say about it – it had minimal impact really. Units were up by seven percent.." Indeed, that's all he said about it. Not a lot at all.

Maybe sales were stunted because SCEE didn't release the Gunmetal Gray bundle in the region. Still, one cannot deny its impact in other regions. In Japan, hardware sales for the PlayStation 3 jumped 700% thanks to MGS 4. That's a huge number.

i personally dont want people who just bought PS3 owning that game

the gameplay is plain and simply boring
the GFX etc is good but without GAMEplay what kind of game is it

 » ?

well its because PS3 is already selling great there in UK and most people who are fans of MGS already has a ps3, hence not much selling growth there.

Here in Japan, most people owns a Wii, and are now just realizing that the PS3 is a far more robust game console. hence 700% sales growth, and also the psp is also having the same luck with sales.

and to EMPC, you are such an internet troll, get a job, get a life, and yes get a girlfriend! any gamer who cant appreciate any MGS title is just a gamerwannabe! all talk no skill!

For Me MGS1 and Xenogears are the best Deep Story Games of all times!

you cant just play a metal gear like other games. i mean any idiot can play gta for the same old boring missions adapted for the new city with new gfx. a metal gear game is played for the all round experiance. the type of people who play it will allready have a ps3 in anticipation for this game im not suprised that sales diddnt really shoot up

Just not in the UK.

And emcp, I believe he's using a Starwars reference (The Force is strong in this one) instead he's saying your butt-hurt, a lot. And I would totally disagree about the gameplay being boring, you obviously haven't made it past the first chapter, the game plays differently in each one and others in some extreme ways. Obviously I can't go much further in description because of spoilers but I don't think you've played the game much, or at all.

 » to be fair

there was hardly any tv ads. i only noticed 1 yesterday.

   Re: ValiX - 2008-06-17
 » In Australia there was

I went to the movies the other day and there was an ad for MGS4 on. My friends thought that it was an actual movie at first because of the graphics.

I'll be interested to see numbers for Australia as we got the Gunmetal Grey version here. A very limited supply - but we got it. Theres also the fact that the PS3 has a stronger base over here.

Gameplay is plain and boring? Well, for you that may be it, but for me and my pals this is the greatest game ever

   Re: emcp - 2008-06-18
 » well

thats all right, i not forcing anyones opinion it just didnt do much for me

it wasnt that difficult, it was more just run from here to their, and it was a little to controlling, it didnt really let you roam, the jumps etc were scripted to certain areas

but i guess the main reason i didnt like it is
the multiplayer is fairly pathetic, i dont think anyone would disagree with that

also

and to EMPC, you are such an internet troll, get a job, get a life, and yes get a girlfriend! any gamer who cant appreciate any MGS title is just a gamerwannabe! all talk no skill!

MAYBE YOU SHOULD LEARN THE SKILL OF SPEELING/TYPING, its emcp, you retard

its methodical and intelligent, sorry thats beyond you. sneak fool!

mmm wtf learn some grammar, you probably some kind of start wars retard like the other, seriously get a life "sneak fool", what is that meant to mean

anyway it wasnt a fast game which is what i like most of the time, i can play slower games like splinter cell etc, but MGS was too slow for me

also yh it requires skill, to run from door to door

also plenty of others agree with me, MGS fans too agree, on the internet and where i live.

also GTA was crap lol

and finally to the other who said my butt-hurt, seriously thats what 10yr olds say when they have no comebacks it either, aaa your gay or aye ya ma. if ya aint got the intelligence to come up with a better slagan zip it.
