Sony at the movies - Image 1They may be closing their PlayStation outlet in the Metreon Center in San Francisco, but Sony is still pushing forward to promote its brands. This week, Sony will be all over a 14-screen cinema complex at The Oaks shopping center in LA, featuring of course, nothing but Sony and PlayStation goodness.

This cinema complex, owned by Muvico Entertainment, will use Sony's 4K SXRD digital projectors, which will be promoted on-screen, the same way Dolby and THX are shown. Across the lobby and concession stands, customers will be looking at sleek Sony LCD TVs for menus and movie listings. And of course, with this theater equipped with all sorts of Sony hardware, it wouldn't be complete without a digital playroom, with PS3s available for gaming.

The cinema also offers valet parking and allows customers to bring in food, beverages, and even booze into their reserved seating in the Premier section, where wide seat cost US$ 20 each. Needless to say, both Sony and Muvico are aiming for a high-end market.
