Codemasters CEO Rod Cousens: We're an attractive acquisition - Image 1In an interview with Codemasters CEO Rod Cousens with MCV, Cousens stated what's the current standing of the company since they were able to develop hit games. According to Cousens, he wanted the company to transform into one that someone could buy or the stock marker could believe in.

All in all, they were able to do it in three years, with increased international sales, beefed up portfolio of brandsand improved development technology. Included in their roster of hit games are the titles Overlord (PC, Xbox 360) and Clive Barker's Jericho (PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3)

In addition to what they were able to achieve, the company was able to create an online gaming infrastructure that only a few can match worldwide and launch the EGO middleware.

With what they were able to achieve, Cousens commented that they were able to manifest the changes by balancing the game content and increasing global distribution. He added that Colin McRae: DIRT (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) was a good example of what they were able to do. It became number one for the Xbox 360 as it was able to sell more units on day one than the seven prior versions had done in total.

With the plans of attracting outside companies for the future of Codemasters, Cousens stated:

If I’m a media company, I’m looking at that situation and I’m looking at games. And Codemasters is uniquely placed in terms of its premium. We’re the fastest growing company in the fastest growing entertainment sector. Add to that our strength online and technology such as EGO and, as a privately-owned company, we’re unrivalled.
