Sony's got high hopes for it, of course, and it looks like analysts concur, pegging it as the top dog in the September hardware sales charts. The gamers -- the lifeblood of the whole video game industry -- are also in for a treat. There's talk of new games, the impending arrival of Uncharted 2 and the new Ratchet & Clank adventure, and what's this? Resistance 3?

Sphere? - Image 1From a blogger's perspective, having to go, "PS3 motion controller this, PS3 motion controller that" over and over can get pretty tiresome. I've wanted a name for this thing for quite some time now, and if the new rumors have it right, I'm about to get my wish. According to this rumor, the name is short, single-syllable, and points to the color-changing orb topping the wand. The new name for the PS3 motion controller might be "Sphere."

TouchEngine - Image 1The Sony HQ in Japan recently filed a patent for "TouchEngine" which, from what it seems, could be used in a variety of hardware ranging from, mobile phones, gaming controllers, to audio/video media devices. With the PSP Go and the PS3 motion controller well on their way, will this pave the way for Sony's next piece of hardware? More details after the jump.

Metallic Blue and Deep Red - Image 1About two months ago, we got our first look at new colors for the DualShock 3, "Metallic Blue" and "Deep Red." Since it's TGS, it's announcement time. PS3 motion controller - Image 1Leave it to the guys at NeoGAF to dig up some pretty cool bits of info. This one comes from what appears to be the leaked details of a meeting between Sega and Sony, where future plans between the two companies were brought up the table. Wouldn't you know it? The details even come with a possible release window for the PS3 motion controller.

Red PS3 controller - Image 1QJ reader Fade3e sent us an email to show his very own modded PS3 controller. Apparently, he saw the new blue controllers on the shelf, and realized that red would go much better with the black buttons. So, he painted the town red himself.
