 A 40-year-old father surrendered to Houston cops on Sunday after allegedly shooting his 17-year-old son over a missing video game. The suspect, Ofelio Antonio Otero, was said to have been drinking heavily when the argument started.First, Otero was arguing with his wife. Son Ignacio later joined in, upon which Otero reportedly loaded his gun. Ignacio tried to knock the gun away from his father, and even managed to run away from him, but the bullet still got him in the neck. Otero immediately fled the scene while his son died at the scene, but eventually came back three hours later to surrender to the Houston Police Department after a brief standoff. i'm a casual smoker now, but as little as a year ago i was a heavy user who was always high when i was home (which was anytime i wasn't at work).
i agree no intoxicated person should be walking around in society, regardless of the drug of choice. however a person's right to do as they choose (within reason) in their own home is totally different.

Don't make blanket statements like that about millions of people. And what the hell is with this debate going on about marijuana smokers knowing their limits. Either you're high or you're not. I don't know where all this "limits" stuff you guys are talking about is coming from. If you mean overdosing, well...there is no limit. While it is possible to die if you smoke too much in a certain amount of time, it is physically impossible for any person to smoke the amount of marijuana necessary to reach that point.

I can agree with most of that. Driving high is definitely not something people should ever do. I have to disagree with the "as influenced" part though. Sure they're both under the influence, but drunk driving is much more dangerous. Mostly because people who are high are aware of the fact that they are impaired and try to compensate for it. They drive slow, keep more distance then necessary between cars, change lanes less often.
Again, not condoning driving high, just don't think it's nearly as dangerous. If driving high was causing such a large amount of accidents, then anti-drug campaigns would be all over those statistics.

Don't really know where I fall on this issue yet. I'll read one research paper that says it increases risk of depression, then another that says there's no link between the two. Same when it comes to other illnesses like schizophrenia. With these it seems to me like it's more of a "what came first thing." The reason a lot of people try marijuana in the first place is because they're depressed (which in my opinion is stupid because marijuana seems like it only strengthens the mood I'm in when I'm high). When it comes to marijuana though I don't know if I trust govt reports yet. Their history with marijuana reports hasn't really shined (First it was a drug that caused you to go insane and start killing people! Then it became a drug that made you sit on your butt all day and get fatter and stupid) Age is probably the biggest factor here.

I am definitely going to have to disagree with that. People act VERY differently depending on if they're high or drunk. All the smokers I know are pretty much calm and relaxed when they're high, but I've seen a couple of those same friends become what people call "violent drunks." There's many different ways people behave when they drink, but people who are high generally only behave one way.

Oh yeah smoking marijuana is definitely not good on your lungs. It does still contain carcinogens and all that other icky crap (using a vaporizer removes a large amount of the toxins, but they're pretty costly.) But how much damage does it actually cause? Not much according to this study

Again, not condoning driving high, just don't think it's nearly as dangerous. If driving high was causing such a large amount of accidents, then anti-drug campaigns would be all over those statistics.

Don't really know where I fall on this issue yet. I'll read one research paper that says it increases risk of depression, then another that says there's no link between the two. Same when it comes to other illnesses like schizophrenia. With these it seems to me like it's more of a "what came first thing." The reason a lot of people try marijuana in the first place is because they're depressed (which in my opinion is stupid because marijuana seems like it only strengthens the mood I'm in when I'm high). When it comes to marijuana though I don't know if I trust govt reports yet. Their history with marijuana reports hasn't really shined (First it was a drug that caused you to go insane and start killing people! Then it became a drug that made you sit on your butt all day and get fatter and stupid) Age is probably the biggest factor here.

I am definitely going to have to disagree with that. People act VERY differently depending on if they're high or drunk. All the smokers I know are pretty much calm and relaxed when they're high, but I've seen a couple of those same friends become what people call "violent drunks." There's many different ways people behave when they drink, but people who are high generally only behave one way.

Oh yeah smoking marijuana is definitely not good on your lungs. It does still contain carcinogens and all that other icky crap (using a vaporizer removes a large amount of the toxins, but they're pretty costly.) But how much damage does it actually cause? Not much according to this study

But imagine this, what if her dad smoked pot and she got her hands on it, she wouldn't be reliant on other people, she would be reliant on drugs, she would grow up being cut off from the world, and not being able to talk to anyone, at least with an alcoholic i can somewhat keep track of her and make sure shes ok, what the ***** could i do if she got her hands on pot?

You will literally stop breathing unless you mentally think "inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale" when your chemical need for oxygen gets low enough. That's why you see people who are placed on nasal cannulas and carry oxygen tanks with them wherever they go, and have them in their homes. Their lungs no longer crave oxygen, and they would suffocate without the breathing assistance. So, yes, cigarettes do kill.

stop your crying for gods sakes if people like pot let them smoke it if they turn burnouts thats on them i smoke pot ev day 4 the last 11 years and i never let pot determin who im and what i can do right now im finishing my masters degree in criminal justice and 1 day i plan on becoming a judge so it depends on the person not the stimulants. oh on pot vs drink,what happens when u drink all night the next day...... u get a hangover and depending how much u drank it can be one from hell... no do the same thing with pot whats gona hapend the next day nothing!! you wake up hungry thats it.... i dont know the scale just balances it self.... legalise pot is the best thing U.S. can do for the economic crisis just regulate it like alcohol sell it to people over 21. ahhhhh it will be a happy world looool.

ive smoked nearly everyday for 8 years and in those 8 years ive earned my BA at SDSU in C.I.S. and held a job in computer programming for 3 1/2, and I dont plan on stopping anytime soon. Actually the only way id stop smoking is if my company started to drug test. which thank god they dont. otherwise me and about 30 other people i work with would get fired and the company wouldnt have any employees left. i never smoke on the job though, but when i was in school id have to be high before class. say what you will but i focused better stoned during school and it made class a lot more interesting. but now i only smoke when i get home and kick back or go out somewhere like a bar, and even then beer and booze cost too much so i just go blazed and get one drink and hold it the whole night. im not going to pretend to be an expert, but pot relaxes me. and after a hard days work. i like to come home relax with my girl and or some friends smoke a few bowls and watch some tv or a movie. or if im by myself ill play some ps3 (currently playing Uncharted 2. one word.... AWSOME!) call me lame, but i wouldnt trade my life for anything. munchies are a ***** though...

As for your youtube video. That is proof of nothing. Drunk people can pull off the same thing. An obstacle course with CONES is not real life. The only test they did with another car is to follow that car AT A VERY SAFE DISTANCE then come to a stop.
You'll notice he ADMITTED to having to concentrate MORE while high. That's considered a distraction point. You ever learn about those? Between EVERYONE on the road with you once you hit 3 distraction points (someone looking away, playing with their radio, changing lanes, tail gating) the risk of an accident is increased. Hit 4 points and it's doubled. Hit 5 point and it's doubled again. Add a drunk driver or high driver and it goes up 10 fold because their reaction time stinks as well as their judgment.
Had that guy found himself too close to that car, he could have easily hit him. You'll also notice IN THE VIDEO they came to a very slow stop. Worthless.

I do it REALLY high.
I try to DOUBLE the speed limit for turns and often reach 120mph on the straightaways. I have only had ONE near hit in the past 6 years, and it was because an old ***** STOPPED in the lane leaving a driveway, completely blocking the road. I was really high, but still was able to come to a complete stop and flip the dumb b*tch off.
