Sony Computer Entertainment America announced that on Thursday (that would be a few hours from now), the PlayStation Store would have a playable game demo for Def Jam: Icon, several videos for Resistance: Fall of Man, and some movie trailers from Sony and Paramount Pictures. The movie trailers are for Disturbia, Premonition, and Shooter. The videos for Resistance: Fall of Man is said to include several behind the scenes vids and a trailer for the game. You know what? All this would be really nice to download if they only hurry up with that background downloading fix. Oh well, at least it's all free. (or so GameDaily.biz claims). |

Yahoo! Games' latest Hollywood Byte feature focuses on rapper/producer Lil Jon. While this news may not usually make it to gaming blogs, Lil Jon has recently become involved in the videogame industry with his inclusion in the recently-released next gen videogame Def Jam: Icon. Plus, it's a slow news day, so here we go.
According to the feature, the sheer amount of detail in Def Jam: Icon was one of the things that most impressed the rapper. "Man, when I first saw the rough images, I was blown away," said Lil Jon. "The details down to the whiskers on my damn chinny chin chin. It's just crazy that they can put this much detail into something. "They even have the way you stand and maybe scratch your head. All of that is incorporated into the game. It's just a whole nother level. I've never seen anything like this." The rapper also had a few insights on how videogames have made inroads into the music business. "Everybody plays videogames every day, or at least once a week, so that's incorporated into the music industry," said Lil Jon. "I think pretty much all of us rappers and music industry cats are big gamers." Lil Jon said that he and his contemporaries will certainly be playing Def Jam: Icon to represent themselves, as well. "Now you have this game where it's really us... It's something everybody likes to do and it's a new game and it's something different and fresh." For the full feature, click on the "read" link below. Having just been released to the public last March 6, Electronic Arts' Def Jam: Icon continues to make its presence felt, and a new trailer for this video game has just been made available. For both the PlayStation 3 (PS3) and the Xbox 360, Def Jam: Icon promises to bring players into the nitty-gritty side of the music industry.
In this game, players will have to set out in establishing their own music label and make a name for themselves in the industry. However, as they get more successful, and they manage to bring onboard bigger names and celebrities from the music scene, then they should also be ready for trouble as rival companies and labels will literally try to drag them down. This strange crossbreed between UFC, MTV, GTA, and The IdolMaster will also feature a soundtrack that should satisfy any hip-hop fan, and will also include characters such as Ghostface Killah, Ludacris, and Sean Paul within the game as fighters and signable artists. So, if you haven't gotten yourself a copy of Def Jam: Icon yet, then watch the video and see if this title is your cup of tea. |

Electronic Arts has just announced that they sent their latest bling-bling off to ice retail shelves today. Both PS3 and 360 versions of Def Jam: Icon are now available. Can you hear the beats on the streets? Well, come to think of it, not so much as "beats," but more of "beating up" to be more accurate. This street brawler will have you boppin' your head to the groove at the same time you bop your opponent's with your own fists. Being the music icon that you are, you can't expect to rise to the top by just sitting idly in your record studio signing contracts. The action is out there: out at the streets, basketball courts, junkyards, bars, and clubs. It's time to jam, kid. Buy: [Def Jam: Icon (PS3)] Buy: [Def Jam: Icon (Xbox 360)] |

PS3 owners have a choice between a fighting game, a racing game, and a sports game this week. For the first genre, we have Def Jam: Icon, a rollicking madcap journey through the happy lands of... Well, no, actually it's a style and rhythm-infused no-holds-barred street fight featuring some of the biggest names in hip-hop. Def Jam: Icon is a game where players have to claw their way to music moguldom, going from rags to riches and leaving broken bodies on the way. Word. Next up is the racing game. Those who feel the need for speed should definitely check out MotorStorm, and if you haven't heard what the game is yet then clearly you haven't been paying attention. This game's got some nasty visceral off-road racing, plunging players into a frenzied environment covered in grit, mud and petrol. No limits, no restrictions, no rules. Just try and get to the finish line before anybody else. If you reach it alive, that's a bonus. Finally we come to the venerable sports game genre. The entry for the PS3 this week is NBA Street: Homecourt, the next-gen entry in Electronic Arts' arcade-style street ball game. NBA Street: Homecourt still allows you to throw down and go to town on others like any other game in the franchise, but its focus is all about basketball giving hope to the streets that the sport is known in. Mostly, though, it's all about giving your opponent a schooling in the fine art of videogame basketball. All of the aforementioned titles will be hitting PS3s on March 6. These guys sure will not back down from a fight, regardless of where they may be. It doesn't matter if it's some rundown gas station, or if it's in some posh hotel suite. Like in this video right here.
Yep, that's right. Def Jam: Icon is making its rounds with a whole lot of painful gameplay that's sure to let you beat some opponent in style. And with all the gameplay videos coming out to prepare you for this game once it hits store shelves officially, there definitely ain't no reason for you to come out as the loser. So press play and watch the moves closely. Def Jam is available for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360. |

Hip-hop fans who want both their music and their games working together may want to start marking down March 6 on their calendars. Why? Because that's the date that Def Jam: Icon will be hitting retail shelves. A cross between UFC, MTV, GTA, and... um, The IdolMaster, Def Jam: Icon will find players as an underground producer who is just starting in the music world. It would then be up to the players on how they'll be able to establish a record label, sign artists, release chart-topping albums, and ultimately make their way up that ladder of fame... that is, without getting thrashed and stabbed in the back by competitors. On top of that, this title from Electronic Arts will not only allow players to listen to tracks from artists like Konkrete, Sean Paul, and Ludacris, but they'll get to encounter these artists within the game as well. Other things to look forward to in this game would be interactive environments, new venues for fights, music that affects the environment, and the Custom Soundtracks feature which allows players to upload their own music to use in the game. And let's not forget the girls. Buy: [Def Jam: Icon (PS3)] More screenshots after the jump! |
