One hundred of the world's top game development studios were recently listed on the fourth annual Develop 100. The book was published by Sheridans, amBX, and the editorial team for Develop magazine, the leading international publication for games developers.

Based on the numbers released earlier this year, it's no surprise that Nintendo took the top spot in the 2008 edition of the Develop 1000. EA Canada comes in behind Nintendo after enjoying the top place in the previous three editions of the book.

The results of the Develop 100 also showed growth in many of the European studios and other development teams in the UK. It was also noted that there were widely reported pressures from low-cost development centers in Canada, with 12 studios making up £221 million (US$ 437 million) in terms of revenues.

There's also a free digital edition of the listing, which can be viewed through the source link that we've provided below.

Ranking is done purely based on annual revenue in the UK. In my opinion, this chart means absolutely nothing.

Like saying that Wall-Mart is the best corporation in the world.
