OK, so price cuts may not be in the PS3's immediate future (even David Reeves' comment that the PS3 will "become more competitive in terms of price" in March 2009 is still hazy), but Sony does have a little something for its UK customers.

Those in the market for a new PS3 for the holidays can get a 40GB unit for a VAT-inclusive price of only £269 (US$ 413) if they order one through SonyStyle.co.uk. That's a £40 discount right there.

SonyStyle Europe also lists a LittleBigPlanet bundle (80GB PS3 plus a copy of the game) for a mere £279 (US$ 428), £20 less than the announced price. The bundle's still marked as "Available Soon", though, so you may want to keep your eye on the site.
