Sony PlayStation 3 exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots by Konami Digital couldn't have been done without the Blu-ray, said Kojima Productions Assistant Producer Ryan Payton in an interview at E for All. "We couldn't do what we're doing with MGS4 without the Blu-ray," he stated.

According to Payton, the game is eating up Blu-ray's capacity due to "hours and hours and hours" of cinematics. Hideo Kojima's sound team is also pushing for a real next-gen experience by putting a lot of work in Metal Gear Solid 4's audio that will come pure and uncompressed, Payton added.

Payton goes on about Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots' context-sensitive controls, and Solid Snake's saga actually coming to an end. Find out more from the interview by watching the video below.

blu ray is the best format for video games and movies. i'm glad this game is exclusively coming to ps3 cause if it was multiplatform, anyone with a brain that understands the difference in the disc formats would know that the devs on mgs 4 would cut corners and leave a lot of things out due to limited space on dvd 9 discs for xbox 360. a lot of people talked about having multiple discs which is just stupid, cause i heard this game might be using the 66gb blu ray disc which means that this game would need 8 dvd 9 discs if it were to go on xbox 360. a lot of multiplatform games are held back because of the xbox 360.a lot things that rockstar games wanted to do in gta 4 they had to leave out due to trying to make the game the same for xbox 360 and ps3. gears of war could have been more than 5 hours but dvd 9 screwed it up.

It would need four or less disks but heavily compressed.
The fact is that if it was a multiplat it was going to be a very different game just to squeez everything into the DVDs, sound graphics, cutscenes, AI codes etc whould be substantially diminished.

LoL.. If the sound is better with uncompressed then yeah compressed really is last gen tech. Im happy this game is going all out (thats the way I hoped the last MGS with snake in it would be)

 » MGS4 eforall expo demo

I am one of the lucky dudes to play MGS4 at Eforall expo. MGS4 was performing at 1080p in a Samsung HD TV. The graphics were just to amazing, Konami also provided users with surround sound headphones by Sony. The controls for MGS4 were user friendly. It took me about 5 min go get the hang of it. Though i didn't get to experience the first person shooter view. MGS4 is definitely showed most of the PS3's real power. I also got to meet Ryan Payton, he showed us the controlling layout for MGS4 before playing the game. After 20 minutes of playing the demo, Konami had us fill out a survey on how we thought MGS4 was, giving us options to write down what improvements does the game needs. I personally marked down everything good as is but except for one, I had found a glitch between the interaction of the environment and the NPC's, some of the soldiers would get stuck behind a wall for a couple of seconds while sanke would be hiding behind it; yet it is just a demo so I'm sure this will be fixed before the U.S version demo comes out on the PSN. Over all i had fun playing MGS4 at eforall and best of all, playing it more than 4 times. LOL yup I made 2hr lines over and over again.
