Resident Evil 5 - Image 1The E3 2008 Microsoft briefing is in full swing and we've got some pretty interesting details about Resident Evil 5 for the Xbox 360 (also available on PlayStation 3).  Quite a number of details are out and about including the launch date of the game, online co-op, Chris Redfield's partner in the game, and more.

According to Jun Takeuchi, Resident Evil 5's producer, the game will be launching simultaneously on all platforms Friday the 13th, on March 2009. In addition, it was also revealed that gamers won't have to take on the zombies alone in Africa. Online co-op will be available complete with team moves such as being able to launch your partner over a chasm.

Speaking of partners, Chris Redfield's partner in this game is Sheva, a girl who can pretty much handle herself in a fight as seen in the demo with Chris sniping at zombies while his pretty partner gets "up-close and personal" with the undead.

Finally we have a little backstory which was revealed in the demo. Apparently, Redfield was sent to Africa in order to investigate a bioterror event. Now, they didn't really give out much more than that but we can expect to find out more soon.

As for the gameplay demo we kept referring to previously, it's not yet available at the moment so you're going to have to wait a bit for it. However, rest assured that the moment we get our hands on it, we'll be putting it up for you guys to check out.
