Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Image 1

After the mostly dismal showing of last year's Castlevania Judgment, Konami is once again trying to take the Castlevania franchise in a new, albeit slightly more familiar, direction with the open-world action title, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

The game tells the story of Gabriel, a holy knight who must travel a destroyed and spirit-haunted world, defeating the evil Lords of Shadow in order to use their powers to bring balance back to the world. He comes armed with the Combat Cross, a versatile weapon that can be used both as a whip and a sword.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is the third game teased in Kojima Productions' mostly MGS-centric teaser site a week back. Development is being handled mainly by Mercury Steam, with Hideo Kojima and KojiPro helping them out. It's currently scheduled for a 2010 release on PS3 and Xbox 360.

That's sorta the reason I love Symphony. It's one of the few games ever I can play over and over and over and over and over and still never feel like I'm bored with it...and damn it Sony Europe put it on the PS Store.

I'm assuming this is an entirely new story line from the previous Castlevania game. No Dracula in this one huh?

Dracula always finds a way.

lol, I just realized that the mask from the Konami teaser site was for this game. Lol people thought it was for another Metal Gear Game exclusive on the PS3.

Glad Kojima will be helping with the game because he always seems to bring professionalism to anything he works on.

@Xeinix and Genotype

its nice to know that Kojima is helping other Devs with his talent, its also good that hes working on something non-MGS too

I almost pissed my pants at this announcement. I love Castlevania, and Kojimas involvement will hopefully catapult this past previous 3D Castlevanias.

Anyone noticed the gameplay looks similar from GOW? Monsters, attacks etc...

I Love CV games since the beginning - All time favorite - Simon Quest - then SOF - and I think I will be back again with this one. Looks very good and interesting - Yeah yeah I know we have to kill Dracula - AGAIN! - but still fun! :)

While I love Castlevania, it seems this one went into the hack and slash genre and a dmc knockoff. That's not entirely bad though...
