Square Enix at E3 - Image 1

As they promised when they revealed their E3 2009 lineup, Square Enix did go for a broader variety of genres for this year's expo, although it was pretty much outshone by the publisher's Final Fantasy specialty, which still numbers more than the games from the other genres. More importantly, they've also provided us with a release margin for Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, Xbox 360), which is slightly better than the massive "Coming 2010" Snow ad in LA.

Final Fantasy XIII now has a release margin of Spring 2010 for the Xbox 360 - the best release information we have to date. The announcement was made, again, during the Microsoft presscon, so it may not be necessarily just for the Xbox 360. Cross-platform release dates are known to vary, but this margin could still hold true for both the 360 and the PS3.

 » Damn 360..

*****ing 360, why waste time porting it to the 360 for...It'll probably Red Ring every two seconds since it cannot handle the awesomeness which is FFXIII.

 » Obviously

Because all of 10 people own a PS3, and all of them had their grandma buy it for them. So it's more profitable to release it for the 360. Duh.

 » Well..

I'm partial to the first statement, even though it's no biggie.

It does suck when people with a PS3 could be playing it already, but you know MS whined and payed to have Square wait and do a simultaneous launch....because they know if it had launched on PS3 6 months (or possibly more) earlier than 360, then tons of people would buy PS3's.....

I don't know, it's just really dirty how MS does business...

 » Wow.

Get a life. I got a 360 because it was cheaper than ps3. I had a ps2 before that and not xbox. So I for one am glad its getting FFXIII

 » balkanboy..... problem

the only system that you can't have ripped games is PS3 so by you having a 360 or whatever ripping games to it is ruining the game industry due to not buying the games there's no support to the game devs. At least the PS3 won't worry bout that because people are buying the games legit and not waiting to Download it.
P.S. there are just as many PS3 user's then there are 360 user's. Japan pretty much hate's M$ so they buy Sony or Nintendo. the count is close to even.

I'd rather Square did a new Einhander and put in a 2 player mode this time.

   Re: Gblo6689 - 2009-06-02
 » yes but...

That would be too logical. I mean the first game is there best selling non-rpg title. So why woud they make another one...
It would be amazing though. Can you imagine a two player local and online, it would be great. Plus DLC for new ships, levels, and god knows what else.
We need more kick @ss side scrolling shooters on next gen consoles. (and not psn or xbl downloaders, I want a full disk release.)
Though I figure I will still be buying FFXIII even though I know it is going to fail to meet my expectations. Been playing through the old ones lately, and man a lot of the old ones are better than any of the newer ps2 ones. Sad I never played them when they were new.

Only FF I ever enjoyed was FFVI/FFIII on SNES. Ok enjoy might be too strong a word as I found the random turn based battles tedious but I just liked the characters and the charming 2D sprites.

Einhander 2 would just be a godsend to me. I won't say the first game is my favorite horizontal shooter of all time (it's my third favorite on PS1 after R-Type Delta and the japanese release of X2) but it's still a great game and one I didn't regret having to import (one of many Square games that didn't see a Europe release). I'd actually not care if it was a download only release as I'm actually starting to prefer that (ok I'm being lazy in that I don't wanna get up and go to the other side of the room to switch discs about when I can have loads of games on the hard drive) but anyways come on Square... try getting out of your comfort zone again.
