Get in the Ring

Given that the game's now on its way to stores (if not already there), there's only so much you can say about a boxing game. Some would even say that playing one title is much like playing all boxing titles already. However, if it's a boxing title like EA Sports' Fight Night Round 3, there's still one last trick up its sweaty boxing glove.

One exclusive feature that this title has from its 360, Xbox, PS2 and PSP versions is the "Get in the Ring" mode. This will pit the players into an FPB (first-person shooting boxing) perspective, as well as a different kind of damage system that affects your overall boxing experience. Being stuck in an FPB view would give gamers the degree of reality enough to note that, when your eye swells from a punch, your visibility on screen will reduce just as much. You'll also be seeing flashes of light, streaks of color, and experience blurry moments.

And so, without further ado: Ding-ding-ding! On the red corner, now shipping onto retail stores, with a weight of US$ 59.99, and wearing trunks with the ESRB letter "T" for Teen... Fight Night Round 3!

» I was expecting this to blow away the 360 version! :(

Ok, perhaps not blow it away, but at least live up to the promise EA made that the PS3 version would be more like Fight Night 4.

Looking at screenshots recently, I noticed the slight improvement on the boxers, but then I noticed the backgrounds were worse, sometimes much worse with pixellated 2D people and strangley, none of the depth of view effect seen on the 360 version (where the background is slightly out of focus).

So it seems that they've only managed to improved the boxers by taking away from the backgrounds.

I thought perhaps it's because it was pre-release code and it will be tidied up in the final game, but this review from IGN seems to confirm all that I saw in those screenshots, together with slowdown!!!

Great game, but, disappointing.

» yeah I have to agree

either EA are having difficulties with the Ps3 or maybe it's true that there isn't much between the PS3 and 360 when it comes to power.

i thought with call of duty and tony hawk that maybe it was just EA, but fight night was shown for the ps3 first and the demo looked great, lots of people were saying it looked better than the 360 version, so i can't see why the ps3 game now has worse background graphics than the 360 and slowdown. it should have better fighters and better backgrounds and better framerate if all they said about the ps3 was true.

don't get me wrong, i think the Ps3 is great, but after what i'm seeing, no way is it twice as powerful as xbox 360.

 » I like the POV.

Not one 360 or PS3 game has blown me away graphically yet, I'm hoping second-generation PS3 titles do so.

I want MGS4.

IMO, this is currently the most graphically impressive next-gen game so far. It looks great in screenshots and movies, but you really have to play it to experience those "OMG" moments in it's graphics.

 » Fight Night..

I remember when i first got the ps2 when it was new to the market and i got knockout kings, Im picturing this game Even more realistic than what they did with knockout kings on ps2.

Great release.. This game will be great fun.
