Boxing game Facebreaker announced by EA for Wii, PS3, Xbox 360 - Image 1

Electronic Arts has just revealed that it is planning to release a new boxing franchise that plans to capture casual gamers. This idea will materialize in the upcoming Facebreaker for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii.

The title is being developed in EA's Canada-based development studio. Judging from the few images we've seen so far, characters in Facebreaker looks like they were inspired by cartoons and if we may add, Team Fortress 2.

Some of  the characters that will be appearing in the game include Romeo, the already-lovable Latin lover known for his pelvic thrusts and Molotov, the over-sized Russian demolitions expert with a penchant for fighting dirty.

The title is also another way for EA to showcase its real-time facial deformation technology. Players, accordingly, will be able to use their own photos to make themselves part of the game's roster.

"Arcade boxing takes me back to my roots in this industry, and this game signals our shift to adding more approachable fun to our product lineup," added Peter Moore, head of EA Sports.
