Eric Lempel talks about the developments on PSN's services - Image 1In a recent interview with PlayStation Network Director of Operations Eric Lempel, the status of the developments of the PSN was brought to light. Lempel delved into the PSN's free service, development of firmwares and an achievement system for their users.

With the PSN coming after the Xbox Live, the online service battle between the two giants was set. The PSN was not considered a competition by Microsoft at first since Xbox Live came first.

Lempel, however, stressed that the PSN was a different experience altogether. In response to Microsoft's comment on the PSN, Lempel stated that:

We set out to bring a great online gaming experience, rich interactive content, and immersive online communities. I feel we've delivered in all of these areas. We are offering a service and one of the differences between our service and Xbox Live is that our service is free.

In addition to what Lempel has said regarding the status of the PlayStation Network's service, he commented that, "I think Xbox Live is a solid service with a lot of good features but I don’t think any one at Microsoft would disagree that there is still room for improvement."

Speaking of improvements on PSN's services, firmwares are continuously developed for the use of their subscribers. In relation to this, Lempel added, "Many of our upgrades have offered tremendous value to our users so I think they appreciate getting these new features as soon as they are ready."

Also, the PSN will be able to treat their loyal subscribers to a new achievement system as hinted by Lempel himself. With the knowledge that customers always come first, they plan to put importance of their consumers. They have plans "to recognize our consumers gaming skills and loyalty in new ways that go well beyond a single score."

Well, there you have it. Lempel's thoughts on the developments of PSN and what we can expect from it in the future. If you want to read the whole interview, head on over to the source link below.
