PS3 Starter Pack (image from http://ps3.blogg.se) - Image 1While a price cut for the European PlayStation 3 remains just a possibility, Sony has come out with something that may help draw consumers into purchasing one.

A new PS3 starter pack carrying a price tag of 599 Euros (US$ 825) has been announced for Europe. The starter pack consists of a 60GB PS3, two SIXAXIS controllers and two games. The bundled games are Resistance: Fall of Man and MotorStorm, two of Sony's most successful PS3 launch titles.

Pretty good value, really. We couldn't find any retail date for the starter pack, but hopefully it'll be in stores soon. Keep checking back here on QJ.NET for more updates.

 » you silly

the old boxes still lying around will indeed get a price cut, otherwise it wouldn't really make sense to have two packages one without games and the other one with 2 games and 2 controllers for the same price.

so i say the old package will get a 100%u20AC price drop.

 » I think...

having this is alot better than having that 80gig sku but oh well

   Re: senjutsu - 2007-07-12
» yeah, but the price is way too high

Here in the US, it's $499.99 for the 60gig, and you get 5 blue ray for free with it... lol

When you ad the controller and the games it's +59+59+59+677$ total!!!

So it's no big deal... Sony should cut the price in europe, since US got it. Still, sony europe will talk about a price cut soon, we'll see then.

Still, I'd like to have this "starter pack" instead of the 80g... I mean, 80g is cool, nothing more... I'd pay a bit more for a 80g with controller and games :D That would be cool (if there would be a good deal for that) :D

Oyama lol. I'd rather have a 80gig + Motorstorm or a 100 euro price kut than this package. O well, I have only one choice now...I will buy this package anyways.

 » pffff

There is as of today only 1 package avaialable in europe,we are basically forced to pay 599 euros and forced to take motorstorm and resistance. You get those 2 games and controller with the old normal 599 package.
We don't even get the choice to not take the games and get a discount you would still pay 599 for a normal system, but the normal system is gone they shove the 2 games and controller right down your throat whether you want it or not!

So yeah,Sony pretty much Fcked us bigtime, i will never ever forgive sony for stabbing us in the back like that!
I hope this PS3 gets cracked ASAP(wich will happen) so we can all play backups/ISOs and let sony kiss our asses because at this point they deserve it!

 » Overpriced?

Anyone complaining about prices shouldn't be playing video games.

I find this bundle is actually pretty good since it has the same price.

 » PS3 R.I.P.

I was going to buy a PS3 after I got paid at the end of this month, but that was because I was expecting a price drop of at least £50.

Now with no price drop and I've seen that 1 online company is selling the X360 Premium for £229 I'm going for that AND a Wii for £180.

2 consoles for the price of 1. This also enables me to buy cheaper games like Oblivion for £18 compared to £50 on the PS3. There really isn't any better games on PS3 anyway.

This truly shows that Sony have lost it. I've stuck with the Sony's Playstations for so long, but now it seems MS and Nintendo have a much clearer idea about game consoles. So with no price reduction Sony have lost another sale and gifted sales to MS and Nintendo.
Sony press release tells us all really. Basically it’s stating that as Europe has been buying enough units at a high price, it’s prepared to make them continue to pay the high price. In other words ‘we will charge as much as we can’.

In my opinion Sony are doing more for pushing up sales of Xbox360 and Wii then Microsoft and Nintendo are. I’ll certainly be buying both of them instead of a PS3. After that there’s no room under my TV for another console.

So Sony and not the consumer will be the ultimate loser with this decision.
