ReevesEventhough Europe is bound to have a PlayStation 3 shortage, there still is a reason to envy them Europeans. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe President and CEO David Reeves reveal that Europe may be the first to get their hands on a PS3. "I believe the first PS3s being manufactured are being made for Europe – which is a first."

Although this might be good news to all Euro gamers, (I'm pretty sure they want to hear news that Europe won't get left behind in PS3 availability, especially on its release date), however, Reeves still claims that some European territories will be apportioned only a small number of units for day one. But the CEO promises SCEE will do the best they can.

"Between November 17th and December 31st we'll hope to put them in as many European territories as we can, even if we have to place small seed quantities on day one."

Well, let's just hope their efforts see all gamers pining for a PS3 to get what they have been wishing for all this time.

 » Europe is useless

send them to Japan and America first, then send them to Europe. LAWL. give the europe peeps more time to save up cause they pay the most.

» What they should do is

Send the most to major euro countries first ie UK, france, germany, spain, italy. Then send the least to the less affluent european former soviet countries who aren't exactly gonna be queing up to get one

» mumblyjoe i believe that is the plan

he did say certain territories are being allocated less, and it only makes sense that it would be the less affluent areas.

i say ship all the new ps3's to uk, that way i won't have to stand in line, i can just buy one a couple days later without fuss. it's 425 quid though...

» First PS3's made for Europe...

Does that mean Sony are kind of practising building PS3's and sending those to Europe so that they'll be well practised when they're building the Japanese and American ones? I hope to God I'm wrong, because that means Europe will get all the ones with problems!!! Damn it!

 » Yeah right!

Like sony would release first in europe, they hate us!

You could see why it could happed. with europe being the most expensive region, its where all the money is to be made!

I cant wait to part with my £425, ye ha!

» I'm back again, that was me at 4 too...

I'm not saying Sony plan to release in Europe first, they're just building ours first, so thats a bit like getting the technique right before building the Americans and Japanese ones, and I think thats not fair, if they are gonna leave us to last, they should build ours last so that they have had time to practise on the other regions so ours are made to perfection for release day.

I hope everyone understands what I'm saying now, its just I'm from N.I. and word our sentences a lot differently from those in the UK mainland.

» we're also not good at complaining

have you ever seen an englishman who's been wronged? (not including hooligans)... well they just take it on the chin, basically if sony do have some faulty units it's the best place to send them, we won't make as much of a fuss as everyone else. i've seen people buy the wrong thing because they didn't want to inconvenience the idiot who made them buy it in the first place.

and wasn't there talk of certain launch titles not reaching europe as well? weird.

 » basically we're screwed

we get the first ps3's made (hopefully not fully of problems) and the huge price (which is a mountain to climb for those who are tight on money already) and games might not arrive on launch date so im hoping some good news will come before the actual launch of ps3 or im going to be kinda mad if the worst happens!

 » ... cool ?

Its nice to get something first for once, but i would rather get games first. Let you Americans be the test subjects, we can have the finished products. Its always been like that. And i'd rather pay alot less and get it a little late than get it first and pay a ***** load.

 » Bigger markets

Japan and USA are the biggest gaming markets. Why ignore them? Japan is getting PS3 first.

 » Yes

...Just writing a few words about you guys in my language. ;)

I also think that the first units will go to Japan. Still no one is ignoring US if this news appears to be true. You just have to wait a little longer (2 weeks?).

And while you are debating. Learn something about "Europe" that you think you know.

» are you all 12 years old?

i dont think some of you can read properly because you think that the article means something else. It just means that the first PS3's that are made will be sent to europe! it DOESN'T mean that they will be on sale in europe first! because most of us know that japan are the lucky ones who get them first.
its like you people just scan through every article and just moan about something you thought you read. READ THE DAMN THING!!!
