I don't find Greg Miller to be a very good reviewer. Watched the videos off his MHF2 review and its clear he doesn't know $HIT about controls. He never figured out that he could press different buttons to string together an attack combo. He didn't have the dexterity to move the game camera (on the d-pad) while moving around using the analog stick so I'm assuming only his only working digit on his left hand is his thumb.
The rest of the scores for Lair look good so I'll see what the other sites say.

having said that, I can understand how sixaxis is a pain to use. Even I turn it off if I can... ^_^
but still... Greg + person who asks for lock-on in MHF + instant fail
Maybe Factor 5 will release a patch so that Six-axis is not necessary. ~_~ LOL.

GOD DAMMIT QJ, FIX THE COMMENTS PLZ...
all the + should be "equals"
oh and the comments regarding the IGN review are pretty fun. All 13 pages of them O.o
Turns out someone else at IGN previewed the game earlier and enjoyed the controls and how responsive they were.
Then this Greg Miller guy spends his entire review crapping on the controls. Unless the preview controls were changed dramatically, there has to be something wrong at IGN with this Greg guy. ^_^

» But PSM Magazine ALSO give it 5 out of 10!
http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/929230.asp
Come on, that's EGM, PSM and now IGN, all giving Lair about 50%.
So don't blame the reviewers, blame the GAME..... blame Factor 5!
Face it guys, Lair just isn't good enough. This is a game which has fallen WAY below expectations, way below the hype. I'm sure even those who quite like the game will accept it's less than they thought it would be.
Anyway, this often happens with hyped games, i.e. they rarely live up to it. Even Heavenly Sword, whilst a much better game than Lair, seems to be good but not great (superb presentation and realtime cutscenes, average gameplay).
Right now, the only new PS3 IP which I feel could live up to the hype surrounding it is Little Big Planet.
We'll see.

Oh well. You win some you lose some. LOL. I'm lookin forward to LBP too.
Though I think that Heavenly Sword still looks good and the scores, while not GREAT, aren't abysmal like Lair. Either way, I'll give these games a whirl once they come out in New Zealand. Who knows, I may have a completely different opinion from the reviewers and love them to death. After all, GS hated on Dynasty Warriors: Gundam but I love it to bits. ^_^ Helps that I love both DW and Gundam I guess LOL

It does take some time to get used to, but once you do, the controls make it really fun. I really enjoyed the gameplay, and also the graphics are pretty nice too. The only complaint I have is that you cannot change the tilt controls, but like I said, once you get the hang of it, which I found a short learning time, it is really fun to take your dragon to the skies.

Is it just me, or are 360 fanboys more interested in the review scores for Lair than PS3 fans?
Off-topic, Haze is now PS3-exclusive, and not just a timed exclusive. Check this link:

» Why would PS3 fanboys be interested in bad scores?
The only reasons PS3 'fans' are ignoring Lair scores is because they are rather poor overall, therefore it's nothing to shout about. Whereas in the early days of this game, PS3 fanboys couldn't stop talknig about Lair and 1080p. Hmmm.
As for Haze, it's not PS3 exclusive until the devs say so. All they're really saying now is that they're focussing 100% on the PS3 version (and why shouldn't they, that's the version to be released), however they do not rule out PC and 360 versions in the future.
IMO, it's a case of wait and see for the devs. If Haze receives scores like Lair, then they'll probably not bother with other versions, but if it's very well received and becomes very popular, then they will probably consider bringing their 'successful' game to other formats.
Anyway, like other games, it remains to be seen whether this game is one PC and 360 gamers would care about, afterall, Lair was once a game PS3 fanboys used to boast about. :|

I think Lair is an outstanding game. Its diferent than what people are accustomed to and isnt that what every one is always clamoring about? Even IGN previously said it was a great game in so many words. now they are backtracking a month later? Get real. Im pretty sure Lair will sell well.

"All they're really saying now is that they're focussing 100% on the PS3 version"
-> By that logic, many of the 360 titles that 360 fanboys are fond of trumpeting as AAA exclusives can easily move to other platforms. And, as you said, whether they will or not is not up to 360 fanboys.
Also, to my recollection, till it was brought up by a 360 fanboy, I've never heard of PS3 fanboys discussing PS3 review scores among themselves. Warcraft has been almost universally praised ad well-received, but have you seen PS3 fans discussing the scores? No. The only people interested in review scores are 360 fanboys interested in bad-mouthing the PS3.

Not unless those games were already in developement for the PS3 and then stopped in favour of the 360. This is what has happened to Haze, so you can't say it's the same for all exclusives.
"Also, to my recollection, till it was brought up by a 360 fanboy, I've never heard of PS3 fanboys discussing PS3 review scores among themselves."
??? Like I said, the scores have been poor, so of course PS3 fanboys are not going to be discussing the scores amounst themselves. Why should they? Fanboys like to boast, they like to promote their own consoles and games whilsts putting down others. How can a game like Lair with poor reviews help a fanboy's cause? How is Lair something for PS3 fanboys to boast about? Lair isn't something for fanboys to boast about, therefore they'd rather forget about it and talk about next 'big' game.
"The only people interested in review scores are 360 fanboys interested in bad-mouthing the PS3."
And are you going to sit there and pretend that it doesn't happen in reverse! You REALLY think PS3 fanboys will stay quiet and say nothing if Halo 3 scores poorly in reviews, or Mass Effect, or any other high profile and hyped 360 games? You think 360 fanboys will stay quiet if MGS4 has bad reviews, or Killzone 2 or GT5 etc.
Come on, this ALWAYS happens Thinker, it always has and always will. Hence Lair, a high profile and hyped PS3 game is getting the backlash that such games ALWAYS receives from 360 fanboys gloating over the failure of the game to match the hype. PS3 fanboys will do the same to similar 360 games. It's to be expected. :|

...not everyone who brings up Lair's poor reviews is a 360 fanboy.
Looking at this thread, Games4James made a very good post (imo) regarding the low scores of hyped games.
If Lair was receiving incredibly good reviews, PS3 fanboys would be here talking about it, and using it to attack the 360 and it's games. That's a fact Thinker.

In that case, wouldn't they be rather discussing the Warhawk scores as well? That game has been hyped quite a bit as well, and it has received nice reviews. I noticed that you didn't reply to my earlier Warhawk question. Can I ask why you skipped over that particular query? Was it because it did not fall in line with your other views. Not attacking you personally here. Just trying to figure whether your motive is discussion, debate or just plain PS3-bashing.
As to fanboys, of course I agree - fanboys can be found for any system. And they are just as bad on all consoles. No console, by virtue of its existence, guarantees that its fans are any more mature or childish.

» Er-hem
>"I noticed that you didn't reply to my earlier Warhawk question. Can I ask why you skipped over that particular query?"
Because this was about Lair, it wasn't about Warhawk or any other games you care to drag into the discussion. So I ignored it.
But if you insist...
>" Was it because it did not fall in line with your other views"
Warhawk falls in line perfectly with the views I've expressed. Gamers are not talking much about Warhawk's score because they are not exceptionally good or bad, they're just good, which is nothing special. If it was consistently receiving around 95% or more, THEN gamers WOULD be talking about it. If it was receiving very low scores (5/10, 45%, etc), then again, gamers would be talking about it. Instead it is scoring about 85% on average, which is good but nothing worthy of discussion.
Going back to Lair for a moment, fanboys like to boast and use games to bash other consoles. So if Lair was a brilliant game receiving fantastic review scores and considered by many to be 'Game of the Year', PS3 fanboys would be talking about the scores ALL the time here, using it to bash the 360 and it's games, talking about how it couldn't be done on the 360, that 360 gamers are jealous, that it proves this and that etc. But that's not going to happen now because Lair is just not good enough to be used in this way.
The same applies to Warhawk, it's a good game, but it's scores are not good enough for PS3 fanboys to use it to bash the 360, and they're not so bad that 360 fanboys can use the scores to bash the PS3.
So to summarise: Gamers talk a lot about the scores of hyped games if there's something to make the scores stand out, and to do so the scores must be VERY good, or very bad. Lair falls into the very bad category, Bioshock falls into the very good category (hence gamers talk about both), whereas Warhawk scores are somewhere in between, and therefore isn't interesting enough to generate much discussion.
So I go back to the point I raised at the beginning when I said "The only reasons PS3 'fans' are ignoring Lair scores is because they are rather poor overall, therefore it's nothing to shout about".
>"Just trying to figure whether your motive is discussion, debate or just plain PS3-bashing."
And you know, nowhere in my posts have I actually bashed the PS3. I simply responded to your post where for some reason you were surprised that PS3 fans are not as interested in the poor reviews scores for Lair, when the reasons behind this are rather obvious imo. :|

'thought' has a point 'thinker'. lair scores badly so 360 fanboys are going to laugh at it being a hyped up ps3 game, and ps3 fanboys are going to pretend they don't care. but if it was like the best game ever, ps3 fanboys would have been rubbing lair into 360 fanboys faces. :P so yeah, 360 fanboys are going to talk about it more than ps3 fans for the reasons thought said

-> I guess you do have a point. And to anyone thinking this is not the real 'Thinker' because I conceded that Thought might be right, I am the real Thinker. I'm not so blindly biased (like some other fanboys I know) that I can't agree to another's point of view.
"And you know, nowhere in my posts have I actually bashed the PS3."
-> I went through your posts again, and you are right. You did not indulge in console-bashing. So I stand corrected. I apologize. What sealed it for me was that you called a spade a spade, i.e you referred to 360 fanboys as fanboys and did not indulge in euphemism or understatement.
On-topic, I went through many reviews, and the ones which criticized the game (not all reviews have bashed this game, some have actually given it good reviews, and no, the ones giving good reviews are not all PS3-biased sites, e.g GamePro, GameZone, Play magazine) have, as far as I can see, mostly criticized the Motion-Sensing Control scheme, not the story, graphics, or other aspects. However, I suspect I'm just being pedantic and defensive of a game without much reason. I'm going to try it out for myself and see whether the bad reviews are justified or not, or people are just having trouble getting used to using the SixAxis Controller as a motion-sensing Controller.

Many of the User reviews I read after this discussion seem to fall into these two categories:
Either
(1) The Control-scheme (using motion-sensing) sucks
Or
(2) The Control-scheme takes quite a lot of getting used to and learning, but it is worth learning as the rest of the game is really quite good.
Don't know which category I'll fall into, but I will try it and find out.

I have both a PS3 and a 360. Been playing Warhawk on the PS3. Smokin!!!
On the 360 I been playing Bioshock. Also smokin!
I was gonna buy Lair, but if it's sixaxis only I'm not.
Last thing I wanna do when chillin is flail my friggen hands and arms about.
Both the PS3 and the 360 are great. Loyalty to a corporation's product? Who cares? It's the games that matter and both systems have and will have great games. Fun is fun.
Sony and Microsoft don't care about you. They can take or leave your loyalty. They just want your money.
