Folding@Home to get new features: Auto Shutdown and Background Music - Image 1 Folding@Home to get new features: Auto Shutdown and Background Music - Image 2

It looks like everyone's favorite distributed computing system will be getting an upgrade of sorts. Sony's Official PlayStation Blog has announced two new features that'll be made available to the PS3 version of  Folding@Home in an upcoming update: an automatic shutdown option and an option for background music play.

First off, the automatic shutdown option allows users to set a timer which will turn off your PS3 after a set amount of time. This should save you a bunch of kilowatt hours and a lot of electricity, especially if you're the type who actually leaves the PS3 on while sleeping.

Second is the background music player. This new feature will allow users to play the songs they've stored on their hard disk drive.

For more on these worthwhile additions to the PS3's Folding@Home project, feel free to check out our source link for instructions on using the two new features.
