Codemasters' Fuel is now officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the biggest console game of all time. Nice way to celebrate the game getting a release date.

The record is for the game's 5,560 square miles of accessible in-game terrain made up of rivers, deserts, forest and mountains. The record will be included in the next printing of the Guinness World Records Gamers Edition.

Note that this record is for consoles. I'm not that up-to-date with my console world sizes, but if we're just talking games in general, this doesn't even hold a candle to Daggerfall.

Fuel is scheduled for a June 2 release. Check out the vid below to find out more about the tech that developer Asobo Studio used for the game.

GT5 has some competition

Not really. GT5 is a ultrarealistic racer. FUEL is more a fun racer. This is competition to Motorstorm, maybe.

is this a ps3 exclusive? or for both the ps3 and the 360? this is only the 1st or 2nd time ive head of the game, i think. but i wanna know if it is for the 360 was it dumbed down or what? if it has that many miles it sounds like it has alot of space to fill on a disc. either way the game looks great and should be fun. hopefully it has on and offline multiplayer

It's for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

No offline multiplayer unfortunately, but the online multiplayer is going to be really interesting. Check the Codemasters forums for a lot more info on the game. I've been following the info on this game for months.

Looks beautiful, it's pretty impressive. Might not buy it immediately, but I'll keep an eye on it..

Someone just need to make a game with 1 more mile of "game" and they beat them, just make it 5,560 of barren desert and BAM you got the record. Who cares if its as beautiful as this game or if it has "stuff" in it, sure it would be a BS way to get the record, but it works.

Making it 5,560 isn't going to win the record is it? Check the article again!

He wasn't looking for an argument.

The majority of the most acclaimed games, on both 360 and PS3 are exclusives....halo, gears, fable, mass effect........Drakes, LBP, MGS4, KZ2, GT5

The only big 3rd party game that can hold a candle to exclusives is Call of Duty and maybe i'd say bioshock...

I wonder if sensitive djman855555 is a 360 owner LOL!

I'd chuck in the God of Wars, Motorstorm games and seems like inFamous is getting good reviews too so they're more examples of quality exclusives.

I'd disagree with Call of Duty and Bioshock for being only third party games that come close. Can't stand either, though I'd put Burnout Paradise and Street Fighter IV as good examples of quality non-exclusives. Got a Wii-owning friend who's become too pissed off with their console and looking to get either a 360 or PS3 just cos the majority of these games never show up on that console. I suppose that's what ya get when you buy a console full of outdated tech where most third party companies don't want to have to downgrade the hell out of their games to get them on there.

 » Well...

Over 5,000 sq. miles of terrain doesn't do anyone any good if the vehicles aren't fun to drive. Granted, this is Codemasters and I'll be picking the game up regardless, I'm just wondering if any vehicle physics were sacrificed in order to make a game world this huge.

...and no, I'm not expecting realism...just fun.
