Q-Games' PixelJunk - Image 1

Indie video game developers did not fail to make their presence felt at Game Developers Conference 2008, and Q -Games from Japan was one that stood out. On the floor, the company known for its PixelJunk offerings on the Sony PlayStation 3's PlayStation Network, introduced two new projects titled PixelJunk Eden and PixelJunk Dungeons.

PixelJunk Eden is a simple physics-based puzzle game which gives players control of a blob that eats pollen and birth flowers. PixelJunk Dungeons, on the other hand, is a top-down dungeon crawler with Q-Games' staple unique visuals.

Similar to its previous PixelJunk Racers and PixelJunk Monsters, Q-Games' upcoming titles will have the elements of simplicity, familiarity, and originality. PixelJunk Eden's debut trailer also hold promise that we'll be having visual treats, all displayed on 1080p HD and running at 60hz.

Q-Games' Dylan Cuthbert explained that these indie titles, without any financial backing from Sony, will take 6 months or less to develop as there are only around five people working on them. Cuthbert also revealed that the scripting language called GameMonkey is used in PixelJunk games since it allows quick iteration for easy tweaking, provides shorter compile/link times, is safe from memory corruption, and C-like but with Lua-like flexibility.

While we know less about PixelJunk Dungeons, you can view PixelJunk Eden's trailer below.
