If you've played any of the previous Grand Theft Auto games, then you know that Rockstar Games takes the time to painstakingly detail everything about the different characters in every game. From complicated backgrounds to quirky attitudes, the GTA characters have always stood out and Grand Theft Auto IV, the latest in the series is no exception.

In a recent article on IGN, Rockstar Games gives everyone a sneak peek at some of the major players in Liberty City that you're sure to encounter in the game. If you've taken a gander at the box art of the game, then some of these faces may seem familiar to you already.

First off is Roman Bellic, the idealistic cousin to the main protagonist of the game. He pursues the "American dream" - fast cars, women, hot tubs, and luxury condos - and hopes to somehow achieve these dreams.

Next up we have Vlad, the high brow Russian gangster who runs the Hove beach neighborhood of Broker. While he may talk big at times, this is mostly a front to curry favor from more powerful criminals.

Elizabeta on the other hand is a low key drug dealer based in Bohan. Due to a recent crackdown on drug dealing going on, she's been rather paranoid with the state of affairs as of late.

Manny is one of the more benevolent citizens that you'll find in Liberty City. From a hard living past as a hoodlum, he's turned a new leaf and is now try to clean up the neighborhood and teach the kids that only losers do drugs.

Lastly, we have Brucie, who's hip and cool and a dead ringer for an Eminem-stereotype gone bad. His larger than life attitude towards everything makes him a very high profile character in the goings on within the city.

All these characters and more you're sure to meet in Grand Theft Auto IV when the game ships next spring of 2008 for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
