It's one of the ideas being tossed around before, taking advantage of the 20/60GB HDD in the PS3 to cut loading times. Sony confirmed during Gamers' Day in San Francisco that the launch title Genji 2 (Genji: Days of the Blade) would use the HDD to cut loading times, as reported by MTV News.

As detailed by MTV News, all you have to do is wait three minutes for the game to upload 4GB of game data from itself (or the Blu-Ray disk, at least) to the PS3 HDD. Sony says that this will cut down game loading times from fifteen seconds to four seconds. People may have different tolerances for load times for different games (personally, fifteen seconds is not too bad for me), but what's definitely been demoed before is the HDD-load option there, and it's available for developers to take advantage of, if they want to.

Okay, so fifteen seconds or four seconds later, what do you get? Courtesy of GameVideos, this preview of weapon-swinging, butt-slinging action from Game Republic's and Sony's Genji: Days of the Blade.

 » BluRay Load Time?

This questions the load time and the reading speed of BluRay media.

This is a good idea but 4GB is a lot of space, especially if they are also trying to introduce a bunch of other "downloadable" media. Like with the HDD on my 360, I've used a bunch of space already and thats only with demos and arcade titles.

» 3 minutes for 300% faster loading time? HELL YEAH!

I mean, if you buy a new game I suppose you'll play a lot more on this one right? so you take 3 minutes the 1ft time you put the game in and till you finished the game you can let the 4gig in uses so you have less than 5sec of load time, WOW ( compared to my psp I'll be blessed 5sec is nothing ). And when you have finished it you'll buy another game then you erase the "old game fastener space of 4g" and take 3 minutes ( go get something to drink ( beer is good ) and return, now you can play the game with a LOT less loading witht the same 4gig of space, this is marvelous, even the core with it's 20gig is well okay!! =D

and 5sec instead of 15sec is 300% faster!!! !! this is soo great! I hope we'll se this in a lot of games, this is great!

» The game play looks like crap

After 5 second of watching this video I got tired of watching him do the same move over and over. This game will be a repetitive bore fest.

 » Name one game....

that doesnt have repetitive gameplay.
Every Game is repetitive
Every FPS
Every RPG
Every RTS
Every Sports
Every Action game
Every Racing Game
Every Fighting Game

You cant name one game in the world that isnt repetitive. So in your mind, every game gets boring fast.

 » Cool

Yeah, I have a HDD on my PS2 that I play my backup copies of my games with since my laser is starting to struggle after 5+ years of having it. I can tell you that the load time from the harddrive makes a big difference. For example Xenosaga III, Suikoden series and other big loading games are like nothing when you play them off the HDD.
