You have swords... use them! There are two things bugs do for video games. They can either allow a player to access something not normally available to gamers provided they do specific requirements or completely rip the fun out of your gaming heart. This story isn't about the first one by the way, so you know what to expect.

According to Wired, there's a bad glitch in Game Republic's Genji: Days of the Blade that can force you to start the game from scratch if you don't have multiple saves. A little over two hours into the game, you're supposed to find a key to get into a building, and then activate two switches on the roof of said building to move forward.

The problem is, you can't exactly do any of that if the key doesn't appear, and that's the bug that's currently a part of the game.

If you don't have a saved game from an earlier portion of Genji, you've basically given up a couple of hours of your life for a bug. If you do have one, you're still going to have to pray that the item shows up where and when it's supposed to. All in all, sounds like your typical blind date actually, so you just have to deal with it until something goes right, or until the developer fixes the bug for us and Sony lets us download a patch for free.

» Unfortunate but not as bad as headline implies

That's sadly quite common in many games. Want some examples? Everybody's favorite Gears of War that I've been playing quite a lot.

On one occasion on Act 1 I got stuck in a wall and had to restart.
On one occasion a door on Act 1 could not be opened. Had to blow myself up and try again from last checkpoint.
On one occasion both me and a my friend died in co-op but the game was stuck and would not restart.
On one occasion one of us died but the other was unable to revive him so had to restart.
On Act 5 I did a roll and managed to fall off the train. The game was stuck in death mode and had to be restarted by quitting.

So unfortunate but not the showstopper headline from QJ.

 » On occasions

On act one when you split and go right and get stuck in the celing. But that was fixed with the current update.
You and your friend died, but you need the update.
The died and couldnt revive was anothing thing fixed in the update.
And the last one happend to me again... But yet again, it was fixed in the update.
No idea how those gliches got past game devs'.

 » COD 3

IGN said COD 3 had alot of the same glitches....certain pre-scripted events would not trigger, even multiple times retrying them....

 » LOL

PS3 fails again.

That must suck to pay so much to only get bugs and crap for games huh?

Re: Victor B. (QJ. NET Staff) - 2006-11-22
» kind of a low blow, but understandable.

Let it be known that the 360 and Wii had or are having the same problems with their games during launch time. :)

The only difference is the price, but what you pay isn't so bad if you're that willing to shell out cash and patience for the defining game of the next-gen consoles.

 » Mine works fine.

Thats kinda funny because I picked the key up off of a dead body at the corner of the map and I haven't had any problems other than dificult camera angles once and a while.

 » wtf
