Press kit with promotional art for Capcom's Mega Man 9 - Image 1 Press kit with promotional art for Capcom's Mega Man 9 - Image 2

Those of you who've seen the previous promotional artwork for Mega Man 9 might be surprised to find out Capcom has gotten more than a little bit serious about it. Despite being delivered as downloadable content for various consoles, the publishers have come up with a promo "box art" for the game using a retro-styled NES box and casing.

Capcom wanted to introduce the new Mega Man title much in the same way as it was originally released for the NES back in 1987, with cheesy art and game descriptions on the back of the box. The included NES cartridge is actually a CD case which contains artwork, game information, and screenshots about the new downloadable title.

While this package is only available as a press kit, fans may still get a chance to own a copy of this old school swag. Capcom will be releasing a limited number on the Capcom Store (around 200), including a PSN or XBLA game voucher.

so, the question of the day then is

Does the NES cartridge actually work??? or is it just some sticker put onto some old cartridge cases???

If it works I would bet you a billion dollars one of them sell on ebay for a fortune!

I'd take that with a grain of salt. 200 of anything would sell out in half a second!
