A Google ad has provided a clue to the hush-hush beta for LittleBigPlanet. We know for a fact that a community manager at the PlayStation.com forums have said last week that there will be a "limited public beta" for the game. Now this is what we find in the ad:

LittleBigPlanet Google ad - Image 1

In case you can't quite read what it says, it's: "New PlayStation 3 Game - LittleBigPlanet.us.PlayStation.com - LittleBigPlanet. Play. Create. Share. Sign up for the beta now!"

The ad directs us to the official LittleBigPlanet site. However, there was nothing there about any signups for a beta. We're staying on the lookout, though, for any more new subtle clues as to this event. And when we do get one, we'll be sure to bring it to you.

@Dremth - Bill retired from his position, NOT FROM MS.

Make sure when you read your unreliable news sites, that you take the time to QUALIFY the information you think you are learning before you attempt to spread it around.

I sure hope I can get into this beta. I usually don't care much about them but I would love to get my hands on this game early. I also wonder if it will allow you to play the single player game or if it will just be sharing maps.

This game is scheduled for release in a month. Why would there be a beta now?

 » beta

I guess:

1. If any bugs appear then they fix it before games release. Maybe to see if anyone from the public can pick up something that the devs miss.

or

2. To add more hype

I dont know.... I'm wondering same question. They could have done it in the summer months before release.

If they find bugs now it'll delay the release. It takes a while to press the discs, assemble, package, ship to distributors in order for them to ship to stores for release.

They are out of time for beta testing.

I agree with you on that.
My only other guess is to hype the game more.

Could just be a demo of the game.

 » Potential reason for beta

It could be to build up a big supply of user generated levels. It would kind of suck getting the game on release date and having nothing to go to after the normal campaign.

 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

Except they already told us the "normal campaign" will take the average person WEEKS to get through.

Well in this day and age of console games being patchable, perhaps they want one last go of it to hunt down more bugs/glitches. Drumming up sales doesn't hurt either.
