We all know how Polyphony Digital takes the word "photo-realistic" to a certain level. In this new trailer for the much anticipated video game Gran Turismo 5, it has taken it to a whole new level of wow.

The video is the second trailer for Gran Turismo 5's Prologue, and this writer is finding it hard to keep from drooling. To say it simply, if some real footage was played beside the video in question, we won't be able to tell which one's real. Anyway, in the video, we get another look at the Nissan GT-R Proto (ooh, shiny...) and some race scenes showing off a number of the cars.

We'll stop right there to keep ourselves prattling on and on. Stay tuned for more news and info about Gran Turismo 5: Prologue for the PlayStation 3. Ready... Set... Press play.

Yes, they added the motion blur and the *****pits! Now it looks better than ever. And you can even see blades of grass on the tracks! God damn, this is looking so fricken awsome!

What I like about these graphics, is that the creators took considerable time to make the cars look "real". In other words, they didnt add super shiny graphics or an insane amount of blur to make the game look good.

These cars look like they have been used and driven. You can see the individual body panels modeled. all the driver movements, and all the gritty aspects of a real car, because in real life, you dont see cars with 5 coats of wax racing!

God damn, I can wait for this!

Why did you have to bring the 360 into this by mentioning PGR4? Fanboy wars perhaps? Besides, it's a completely different type of racer (sure the PGR series is more fun for some gamers, including me, but it's not comparible to the GT series which is a racing/driving sim).

Let's just stay on the subject of GT5 please, which looks superb imo, but then Polyphony have been masters of this genre for a decade. I just hope they can include damage eventually, and hopefully much better AI this time, since I prefer a racing sim than just a driving sim.

er yeah.
PGR4 looks easily as good if not better than this.
You people know that you dont have to agree with everything you read in magazines and on websites.
GT really is overrated,(Just like DMC and MGS) and the cars STILL look like they are hovering on the track.
Yes I do have a PS3 bit I just can't get excited over essentially the same goodamn game that has evolved lilttle since the original.
600 cars and only 8 or so ae fun to drive and don t handle like a shopping cart.
I truley belive that western game designers have suparssed Japanese ones in this gerneration.
Same crap different lick of paint.
Flame away if you must but is just my opinion.

 » dumbass

well its not overrated although i believe the gameplay needs a bit of tuning after playing GTHD. Graphics wise PGR4 doesnt even come close. This game renders at 1080p at 60 fps, while pgr4 renders 720p and 30 fps and is an arcade racer. Aracade and simulations are different in many ways. And GT will own Forza which had 8 tracks and became really repetitive.(i stopped at level 27) The only graphical flaw i see in GT5 prologue which is most likely goign to be changed are their 2d trees, in 1 spot when the camer goes in helicopter view you see that the trees make an X because they are 2d sprites right now. Also the only thing that looks good on PGR4 over PGR3 is their rain effects which we have yet to see Gran turismos rain effects, so please stop being a fanboy and accept all games for what they are and stop sucking MS D!*K

why are you talking about PGR? you dont own a ps3 why are you here?why would poly mess with a good formula plus its a sim why would they stray from real life. GT has covered almost all aspects of racing except for nascar, draging and drifting. isnt this game another demo? are seriously gonna compare another demo to a full game. this is a trailer of a demo that looks good as for pgr4 it looks like crap. everybody liked the points they gained in pgr3 and then ms incorporated it in live thats it. i never liked the pgr series and the only reason why it ws popular was because it was the first to come out next gen.

 » GT is NOT Overrated.

How can you say GT is overrated, when Race Car Drivers use Gran Turismo to Practice? 600 not all fun.

Just as they are many cars in the world, GT attempts to allow drivers of different interests to sample the cars they love.

an '86 Corolla Levin may not mean much to some, but to "Initial D" fans, it approaches the Holy Grail just by being what it is, the Initial D car. Some folkes may not care for rally cars built 20 or so years ago but Group B Rally Cars have a HUGE following world wide with die hard fans.

As for the cars floating on tracks, you must be joking. NO OTHER GAME DOES IT BETTER. NONE. Just look at the replay on any GT game and any other driving game and name the one that does it better.

 » ROFL

umm ya western gamers have not surpassed the Japanese not even close plus PGR4 is no where near better looking or better feeling than the whole Gran Turismo series. Why do you think Gran Turismo is over rated? Its the best driving simulator ever since the first one came out and no they dont look like there hovering over the track rofl
   by Nerd (Unregistered) - 2007-07-23
 » .

yea PGR4 does look very good and definetly at a similar level to GTprologue, but i dont think it has that extra something that GT has to make to cars look so realistic. wen GT5 comesit, it'll be looking even better than this trailer, just look at the jump in quality from GT:HD to GT:P..it was huge in terms of car model graphics, and there were even bigger improvements in the environments.

   Re: You_dont_need_to_know_me (Unregistered) - 2007-07-23
 » ahhh..

but PGR4 runs at 30fps 720p..

Gran turismo 5 runs at 1080P 60FPS

as teh guy above said GT5 runs at full 1080p 60FPS this runs at 30fps and only 720P

ya cant even compare teh 2

that trailer jus has taunting and is tailerd to suit those so called youths/teens by making it look n sound cool. gameplay is still gna be 3rd/1st person view

 » PGR4, don't make me laugh.

Those graphics don't compare to GT5. At times during GT5 I thought 'now that looks real', I never thought that for a second during the PGR promo drivel. Now be gone with you!

Re: indiana jones (Unregistered) - 2007-07-23
 » hmm

did you see that motorider give the 5 fingers to the cars. it seems almost like hes saying cmon GT5 catch up. lol w/e both are promising games. i bought my ps3 for GT5 only so im happy that theres trailers for it unlike GT MOBILE's vapor ware.GT looks great although the backgrounds in the demo actually look better than the preview i just saw. you can clearly see the X tree shapes. its still not a finished product so im optimistic.

   Re: Advertising -

   Re: Zen (Unregistered) - 2007-07-24
 » Those pesky Trees

I'll give you the X-shaped trees lol. That did look poor but I'm sure they'll sort that out in time for release (or keep the cameras away from the pesky things), apart from that I'd say full marks for realism. This trailer is much better than trailer 1.

Re: indiana jones (Unregistered) - 2007-07-24
 » yep

im just glad they gave us a bone to chew on because im really anxious to play this game. the best part about it is the creator stating that "when its done its done" so until hes not satisfied ppl are just gonna keep working on it and making it better. !!!

the E3 trailer is so pre-baked its not even funny

for a live in-game demonstration check the this Video:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21509.html

this is a Low-res one,i,m sure there is a higher res one,but the game is far from the E3 2007 trailer

looks very average and seems to have some framerate problems

i wish developers stop showing bumped up Images and trailers of their games

PGR4 looks great to me,

http://www.gametrailers.com/game/3264.html

I would be happy which ever platform that game was on. Seems to me you're determined not to be impressed. Anyway, this is not about PGR4, it's about GT5, which does look fantastic.

I cant believe people are actually trying to compare this game with other racers. Check this link out.

http://generationdreamteam.free.fr/afrika/GranTurismo/GTHDvsRealLifeJuly.jpg

You know a game looks good when it's being compared to the real thing. I'd like to see any other racer do that.

I love it when people do that. You can't get better than graphics that look real.

yup 2d trees for now they wouldnt let that slip in the finished product even if they did your never gonna be in an overhead shot like that. unless they add that camera angle in the replay.

Now thats what I'm talking about! Cell is going to benefit PS3 in the long run and I see now Xbox360 fanboys in denial saying, but...but...PG4 has real time weather change!

Re: Mister Common Sense (Unregistered) - 2007-07-23
 » @MGSROCKS1

I admit defeat, theres no-way the 360 could push out these graphics, ho_hum I'll go bury my head in the sand like the w_anker I am

   Re: Xtreme (Unregistered) - 2007-07-24
 » Actually

In the hands of Polyphony, the 360 would be capable of the graphics seen in GT5. Like I said here earlier, Polyphony are the masters of this type of game, since they've been doing it for 10 years now, and they know every trick in the book for getting graphics to look realistic with the hardware available.

No Playstation dev came close to matching their GT1/2 graphics, no PS2 dev came close to matching their GT3/4 graphics, therefore expect the same for GT5.

one thing i noticed again is , why do the colors look washed out? thats yet another ps3 game where the game looks like its lacking color.

   Re: MGSROCKS1 - 2007-07-23

Watch the trailer coming out on PSN. This video doesn't do the game justice.

Watch the trailer from the PSN at 1080P. Colors are very very vibrant.

Ahh and good for you for trying so hard to think up something bad to say. Kudos.

Re: indiana jones (Unregistered) - 2007-07-23
 » lol

im not trying to talk bad about the game "refer to my first post" if i do talk bad about it im contradicting myself for buying a ps3 just for this game. besides how are you going to watch your 1080p trailer on your computer monitor ? you must have a beast of a computer monitor to display native 1920x1080@60 frames or are you scaling down to defeat the purpose?

Re: The answer is. (Unregistered) - 2007-07-23
» Why do Colors look washed out?

Because in real life .... the colors haven't been over saturated to look Bright and Crisp. Before you think of arguing, find any game that does the "close to real" look Better than Gran Turismo. I am waiting.........

   Re: indy (Unregistered) - 2007-07-24
 » lol

youre missing the point. its not just GT its call of duty , lair motorstorm and a bunch of other games that you can clearly see the lower contrast.no one is doubting that gt is the best looking car sim. im asking if the game is going to suffer from what seems to be a trend with some or alot of PS3 games.
