Grand Theft Auto IV: PlayStation 3 Mutltiplayer Online mode down - Image 1 - Image 1Heads up, PlayStation 3 gamers! Sorry to be the bringer of bad news again, but it seems that Grand Theft Auto 4 is getting more hitches on the Sony platform.

Earlier we reported that some people are experiencing freezing errors with the PlayStation 3 version. Now, reports have come in that some players are also experiencing problems with connecting online.

Players who encounter this problem get this message from their in-game cellphone: "Cannot connect to game provider, please try again later." We don't know if the problem lies with the game or with the server.

At any rate, since the cellphone is the only way to access multiplayer, those who encounter this problem are effectively barred from the service. Still, don't despair, the single-player mode is bound to be enough to keep you occupied while Rockstar looks into it.

 » gta IV Still Great!

I noticed that little online issue when starting out early in the game. I wasn't sure if it was just because I did not open the feature yet after going through more of the game or if it was a real issue. One way or the other this game rocks from the start! All of the things you can do is just amazing and in 1080p too! The story is real good. It tripped me out how you can watch all the funny programs on the in game tv. I probably spent a couple hours doing that alone. The content is very realistic, looks professional and really well thought out. I have played this game about 6 straight hours today and it was hard to tear myself away from it. Any adult who hasn't played this game yet and likes mature content, should check it out.

» I played online without any kind of problems...

And never had a freeze. Anyway, in the last news on the freezes, it's said that the x360 version have them too. Still, I never saw them and I played on my ps3 all day long (my eyes are as red as if I smoked pot).

I played some games online too, in deathmatch (wich is really fun) and never had any problems. But I suppose some people just had a problem connecting to the server, mayve he was too busy (Rockstar needs some time to adjust the servers, it's normal. The x360 version won't have a calibration, but you'll pay per month like a cellphone while the other consoles and PC games play online for free)

 » problem

im having that problem now and i keep retrying and, also ive had it since yesterday and it still hasnt been fixed... anyone know a solution?

   Re: Skorpious - 2008-04-30
 » Solution

Get the 360 version!

   Re: theaceoffire - 2008-04-30
 » I think I know

The problem is probably that they are using servers for the PS3, which they can't do with the 360.

So since the 360's connect directly to each other, no issue, but the PS3 is getting affected by thousands of people connecting.

This will be fixed pretty quickly I have no doubt.

Thanks for the help jackass comments like that must take you far in life, I got it for ps3 and 360, perfer the ps3 version... Better graphics, better control, only downside is the internet for now.

» You Get what you pay for.

This is just one of the reasons why 360 owners pay $50 a year for Gold memberships.

 » fake rumors

why do i keep on hearing errors on gta 4 for sony ps3. i think its just some xbox 360 fan saying rumors and also i think this is a huge lie cause me andm ost of my friends have it for ps3 and all the errors i read about gta 4 for sony never happened to me or my friends

   Re: Fujin - 2008-04-30
 » hehe

knowning micro$ofty, it could be laying of the bad seeds in the forum of money ;), Get as much as the market share as fast as possible so people get reliant to using them for everything... I had a friend who switched from ps3 to xbox for this game only for the internet, but to be straight forward with you I have the game for both the 360 and ps3 and they are exactly the same online, I think the guys at Take-Two did a good job making the multiplayer system that they got. Again its the same set up as the 360 for the ps3 and its a great unifed system. Now since people are on the fence about getting the game for either system that would help them look for the right reason to get on the "xbox" side of the fence.

   Re: Datnizzle - 2008-04-30
 » Maybe but...

My copy (PS3) won't play online. I could care less about what is going on with the 360 version, all I know is my PS3 version, DOES NOT LOG IN ON THE GAME. I can't even get into the social club. Keep your theories the multiplayer bug is real.

   Re: Fujin - 2008-04-30
 » True Dat

yea thats true i can't get on either, but the one that i find fake is the first bug that the game freezes, or it may have been isolated to just a very few ppl but then blown out of perportion

 » Urika!

I think i may have found the solution... I was able to play the multiplayer the first day i bought the game after that it kept giving me the error, all I did to fix the problem was restart my router and modem, after that ive been able to play the game w/o prob... Hope this is helpful
