As you will recall, a Rockstar Games spokesperson gave us a rough estimate of about 100 hours in order to finish Grand Theft Auto 4. However, at that time, it wasn't confirmed whether that was just for the single-player campaign alone or not. Now if it's still lingering at the back of your mind, Rockstar senior developer Jeronimo Barrerra has this to say about this source of itch: "It takes testers playing 4 hours a day, a good 2 weeks to get through the whole single-player game." Doing the math, that's about forty hours of dedicated gaming for the single-player mode alone. We're not even talking about side quests yet. So the 100-hour game length remains a possibility. And mind you, forty hours is not a mere walk in the park. That's a lot of gameplay right there. But really now, it's up to you if you're in for a Guinness speed-finish or a slow, Zen-like game experience. Now that the fourth trailer is up, it really is just a matter of time before Grand Theft Auto IV hits the shelves this April 29 for the Sony Playstation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360. But I loved Uncharted; best single player campaign ever IMO. Anyway... 40 hours, that's no too far off 2 whole days straight, then you have the online (YEH!!!! :))

40hrs is awesome for an action game and it has multiplayer. I played Uncharted though I beat that in 7hrs. I probably will beat this in 35-41hrs. Very long and I'll be getting the episodic content in the fall so I have a lot of time to enjoy this.

» My Synopsis
The100 hour comment must have been how long it took for the full game, not just single player. Obviously, if the single player took that long, no one except people who worship GTA would finish it. People would get bored before they got to the end, because all it could be is just random things tacked on that have little or no connection with one another.
Now, for a game like GTA, 40 hours is perfect. Obviously, no player has the exact same tactics, skill levels, abilities, etc., so no one is guaranteed to finish it in more or less than 40 hours. For all we know, the testers sucked or had guides the whole time, or have played through it once before.
We could pretty much beat GTA3 and Vice City in less than a day now, and possibly San Andreas too, but keep in mind that even when you're done with the Story, there will be much to do in the city. Then there's multiplayer...Online multiplayer...With 16 players...and many modes...Yes.

» Awesome but
Did the testers spend any time testing online? Did they get 40 hours of net code testing? Hmmmm?
Specifically PS3? Hmmmm?
Im very curious, as Rockstar has yet to put anything on PS3 and so many companies who have released, 3 or even 4 titles on PS3 are still releasing games with garbage online.
Arent they UBISOFT?!

i don't think QJ counted the non-business days (weekends).. so two monday-friday weeks will be 4 x 10 + 40.

I suppose QJ wasnt counting weekends, or they just were summing it up to a dedicated gamer rather than a tester.
