Guitar Hero World Tour drums - Image 1The curtains have finally been opened for Guitar Hero World Tour, the latest entry in the hugely popular Guitar Hero rhythm game franchise. Yep, apparently that's the official name of Guitar Hero 4.

We already gave you guys a bit of a lowdown on the game, and today we have a few more new details on what World Tour will be packing.

Now, you know about the new drums peripheral, right? The game drum's peripheral will have three pads, two raised cymbals, and a bass pedal. They'll also be velocity sensitive and will reportedly be quieter compared to Rock Band's.

World Tour's online features will allow up to four players to take on another group of four in the Battle of the Bands mode. Of course, chances are this feature will most probably be restricted to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

There' s also supposed to be a special Jam Over mode that lets players "jam over" the tracks included in the game. An interesting idea, but according to Eurogamer, word from Activision is that this feature has been dropped "for now".

Guitar Hero World Tour will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and Wii later this year. If you haven't seen the World Tour video yet, you can check it out here.
