Rock Band 2 - Image 1

With the Xbox 360 version of Rock Band 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2) now officially out, Harmonix has reaffirmed its commitment to bringing free DLC to those who bought the game.

There's no official release date or track list for the free DLC yet, but according to Harmonix developer's post on the official Rock Band forums, 20 free tracks will be made available for Rock Band 2 later this fall.

The weekly DLC releases will also be continuing for both the original Rock Band (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) and the sequel. Going by Harmonix's estimates, there will be over 500 songs spread across the two Rock Band titles along with the various DLC packs by year's end.

Harmonix also shed some light on the Jukebox Mode, a feature that would have let gamers just sit back and listen to music as their virtual band plays on. Apparently, this feature was cut in the final stages of development. There are also no immediate plans to add it again in the future.

I'm not missing Jukebox Mode, I'd probably never use it. When I want to listen to music that's what my Zune, laptop, or phone are for
