Hellboy - Image 1

Hellboy stomps into the next-generation console and handheld platforms this year as his latest game Hellboy: The Science of Evil preps up to launch aboard the Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, and Sony PSP.

These newest screenshots show the console version of Krome Studios' video game. According to the developers, four playable characters will be in the mix. Players can team up both in online and offline multiplayer modes to venture into the unknown with the world's greatest paranormal investigator.

Hellboy: The Science of Evil is based on the movie and comic book series of the same name. It follows the life of Hellboy, a demon originally summoned by Nazi occultists in World War II to rain doom on the Allies forces. Fortunately, he was still in his infant form and was rescued by American forces. He then joins the army's Paranormal Bureau and works for the good of mankind. That story jerks this blogger's tears every single time.

Stars Blair, Jones return to lend voice talent for Hellboy: The Science of Evil - Image 1Konami, via a press release, announced today the full voice cast of its upcoming multiplatform title Hellboy: The Science of Evil (360, PS3, PSP). We now know that Mr. Ron Perlman who portrayed Hellboy himself in the movie, will lend his voice acting once more for the video game adaptation.

Quite interestingly, it seems that there will be some sort of a movie reunion as Perlman is joined by actor Doug Jones and the beautiful Selma Blair. Needless to say, Blair will be acting out the role of Liz Sherman while Jones will perform as Abe Sapien. Konami VP of Product Development Brian Christian had this to say,

With voice acting from Ron Perlman, Selma Blair and Doug Jones, and creative guidance from director Guillermo del Toro and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, Hellboy: The Science of Evil is shaping up to be one of the most faithful video game adaptations of an entertainment property of all-time.

The video game Hellboy, much like the movie and the comic version, focuses on Hellboy's incredible supernatural powers as he battle to overcome a terrible Nazi scheme. Players will be able to wield the Right Hand of Doom and use it against the enemies and the game's destructible environment.

Christian added, "Drawing from the mythology of both the comic books and the motion picture, we are able to tell an original story featuring all the characters, settings and visceral gameplay that fans could ever ask for in a Hellboy game".

Hellboy - Image 1GameSpot AU have scored interviews with Krome Studios on the newest Hellboy game, Hellboy: The Science of Evil.

This latest installment finds Hellboy chasing after a crazed witch. The story is split up in chapters and smaller story arcs which contribute to the greater story arc, which ultimately leads him to a climactic confrontation with Hermann Von Klempt.

The creators, wanting to stay true to the spirit of Hellboy, dives headfirst into the challenge of translating the game into the different consoles.  Although the PSP will be substituting 2D animation for the sequences that will be found on the consoles, the main story will be the same across all the consoles. And according to Rich Foster, "both the console and handheld versions involve a decent amount of face punching and hitting bad guys with large objects."  Bad guys with face full of stone fist.  Rock.

Liz Sherman and Abe Sapien will be playable characters. Liz will of course remain the hot pyrokinetic we all love her to be, and Abe will be kicking ass with his "fantastic array of martial arts moves and pulls off incredibly fast combos and strikes."  Both interviews mention a special appearance, but both also refuse to go any further on the topic. Such a tease.

HellBoy: The Science of Evil, will be released on the Xbox 360, the PS3 and the PSP. The game will feature co-op and multiplayer options available for online or split-screen gameplay. It is currently in its beta version and projected to be released by the end of the year. Blu-Ray capabilities will feature bonuses like behind the scenes footage and interviews with Mike Mignola, Guillermo del Toro, Ron Perlman.

A sequel to the movie was also mentioned, and projected to be released by mid-2008.

Hellboy - Image 1We've already shown you folks several screens (and even a trailer) of Hellboy's Right Hand of Doom doing what it does best in Hellboy: The Science of Evil - which is smashing things- so, here's a bit more on the game. Krome Studios' John Whiston, Hellboy's Producer reveals that other than baddies, anything that looks like it can be destroyed is fair game for the Right Hand of Doom.

Speaking to PlayStation Universe, John Whiston says:

...our environments are built as playgrounds for his stone fist. Anything that looks like it will break is fair game. From crumbling walls, trees and statues through to entire Japanese temples – Hellboy’s world is highly destructible. You can wield various sizes of "impromptu" weapons – either forcibly taken from disarmed opponents or ripped from the surrounding environment.

Now that sounds like good enough reason to get at the very least, curious about this game, right? Anyhow, Whiston also revealed that the main storyline of the game should see Hellboy going through an adventure that is saturated with Nazi's, eldritch demons, European folklore, and ultimately lead to a final battle of sorts with Hermann Von Klempt.

Enemies encountered in the game should include a Witch and her creations called Bambinis - there's even a Bambini Giant. You'll also see things taken from the Hellboy universe like Japanese Demons, Undead Nazi's, Frog creatures, etc.

Also from the Hellboy Universe, Other BPRD characters will be playable. For example, in multiplayer, Liz Sherman and Abe Sapien are playable. Speaking of multiplayer, it should come in the form of co-op missions.

As for other things on the PlayStation Network, John Whitson reveals that while they'd love to have a demo out on the PSN, they still have no plans for integration with PlayStation Home.

While there have been reports that the game should be out by Q3 this year, Whitson opts to give out a more vague window. He says: "Hellboy: The Science of Evil will be in stores at the end of the year." Hey, at least it's still 2007. For the complete PSU interview with John Whiston, feel free to head to it using our "read" link below.

Hellboy will be available on Q3 2007 - Image 1Fans of the Right Hand of Doom heads up! We've got some new cool assets for Hellboy (PS3, 360, PSP) courtesy of developer Krome Studios and publisher Konami. Take note that the artwork are for all platforms while the screenshots are exclusive for the PlayStation 3.

Anyway, Hellboy is very much based on the movie, unlike the other video game Hellboy: Asylum Seeker that was released on the original PlayStation (PSOne) and Games for Windows (PC) platforms by Cryo Interactive. After all, movie director Guillermo del Toro is very much involved in the new title.

Aside from having Hellboy himself beating up the bad guys with his big stone hand or gun Samaritan, fans will also get some action from other characters like Liz Sherman and Abe Sapien. If you want to know more, you can always check out our previous reports or QJ.Net's exclusive interview with game producer Paul Armatta.

Hellboy will be released on all platforms sometime in Q3 2007.

Hellboy - Image 1

Yes, Hellboy the video game certainly is looking dapper and ready to roll out for your gaming pleasure. Why did we say that? Well just look at these new screens we've got! I personally like that header image the most. The blurred effect, the lighting details... it just leaves you wanting for more, don't it?

And we shouldn't expect for anything less. After all, developer Krome did boast that they will be using advanced lighting and texturing techniques to have the right amount of oomph for the game. Release date is still penned at 2007, with no particular day or time, yet. But rest assured it's looking swell and all geared up for its launch. We'll keep you posted for more Hellboy details as they come our way.

For somebody who takes things that go bump in the night seriously, Hellboy sure knows how to "bump back". We've got a new trailer for Krome Studios' Hellboy, and you know it's not going to be pretty.

In this new trailer, our favorite red hellspawn shows us what he does best - flattening everything in sight. We also see a bit of action from Liz Sherman and Abe Sapien. We see some pretty - err, a variety of monsters and we can't help but feel sorry for them. Nobody wants to be at the business end of Hellboy's Right Hand of Doom or his gun the Samaritan for that matter.

Anyway, we'll quit babbling so you can enjoy the vid.

Truth be told, we don't know how this vid right here could top the Brutal Brawling gameplay vid we brought you earlier, but if you're itching for more info on the Krome Studios-developed videogame adaptation of Hellboy, this should suffice.

As you know, the game is set to cut loose hell's fury on your 360s and PS3s Q2 this year. And as we inch closer and closer to that seemingly faraway day to come, you can expect more and more game goodies to sail your way to further psych you up for the game. So what are the bits of info you can get from this vid? Well, as this post's title says, you'll be able to get the lowdown on where the devs got the inspiration behind the creation of the kickass characters you'll be seeing in Hellboy.

This vid was actually taken at the recently held Konami Gamers Day event, so fret not, there will be gameplay footage for you to feast your eyes on too. Listen in as producer Paul Armatta talks about the stuff you can look forward to once the game hits the shelves. But don't take our word for it, just hit play and you're good to go.
