Metal Gear Solid 4's Solid Snake - Image 1After exciting news of Kojima Productions and Konami Digital's Metal Gear Online beta becoming available for download a day earlier than expected, an alarming issue has surfaced from various reports. According to several Sony PlayStation 3 owners who acquired beta codes as bonus for placing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on pre-order, some keys are invalid.

Players are required to punch in a code of 12 characters located on the Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2 discs to secure a Konami ID. However, word has it that some codes distributed were only nine letters long. Consequently, unlucky ones weren't able to download Metal Gear Online.

Konami is yet to release official word regarding the matter, but those who received impotent codes and everyone else with other problems in downloading Metal Gear Online can send an e-mail to mgobetasupport@konami.com. We're keeping tabs on the matter to keep you posted, so watch this space for updates!

Im sure they will do something to fix that, most likely you will have to mail them your 9 digits and then they will mail you back a replacement code or something....... or they could open up the beta :P *wishes*

The beta won't be playable until Monday.

» Nothing is wrong with the beta

But somthing is wrong with the 9 digit codes and the konami ID site.
The beta is working perfectly so you can't say "..something is wrong with the beta"

 » 21st of April

you got to wait until the 21st of April to register. didn't you read the other metal gear posts or the instruction next to the 12 digit registeration code. beta doesn't have problems in the terms of downloading, but you got to wait until they open the servers. I agree that its a bad thing if you got a 9 digit code like Lethal_NFS, but other than that everything is going great for metal gear online beta

» Promo Section only has 9 digits worth of room.

My code was 9 digits long and guess what I put it in and downloaded the beta. So I have no idea what anyone is talking about when they say 12 digits, I think there are Europeans trying to get into the US beta. Something cause none of this makes sense to me. The promo section of you transaction management can only accept a 9 digit code. Theres no other room for a an extra 3 digits. So none of this makes sense.

 » Got that backwords.

I meant 12 digits instead of 9. Again I think its either people trying to use the Japanese or European codes for the US beta.

Now if only the 1.01 update would download...

 » The update

I used the recommended setting. It took a hell of a lot of time for it to download (about a hour and a half).

but I still have yet to apply for the KONAMI ID
