Capcom is committed to making its titles available to as wide an audience as possible, and has been building its technology base to meet that goal. This announcement means that PS3, Xbox 360, and PC owners worldwide will be able to experience the latest installment of one of Capcom's pillar franchises. |

in 10 years all systems will play just about all games...theres too much money to be made...
btw... 2nd page FIRST!!!
I say in 5 years
to all of you that say "***** capcom"
I sai: "***** YOU SONY BASTARDS!!!!!"
YEAH DMC4 COMING TO 360!!!!!!!!!
I second that
keep em comn baby..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
capcom use cross-platform engine("FrameWork") for DR, DMC4, LP and etc.
so it`s easy to port a game, and i wouldn`t suprice, if they will announce port of LOST PLANET for PC and PS3. =)
Konami doesn`t use cross-platform engine.
White Engine as far as i know, also is not cross-platform engine.
EDGE also not cross-platform. :-D
UE3.0 is cross-platform.
The engine used in SW:Unleashed also cross-platform.
Cry Engine 2 definately cross-platform for pc and ps3, xbox360 like pc, so and for xbox360.
SO, PS3 GAME MAY BECOME MULTIPLATFORM, IF ONLY IT`S DEVELOPED ON CROSS-PLATFORM ENGINE. =)
Just on game from 10 AAA titles of 2007 has become multiplatform:
GTA4
AC
DMC4
MGS4
KillZone2
HS
NGS
Lair
Uncharted
Ratchet
LBP
MotorStorm
Big Deal.
The trouble is all the best Ones of the list are going Multiformat and the rest are just average other than MGS4 if it comes out good
i was going to get a PS3 to play these games no i dont have to. I had a feeling it would be coming to the 360.
maybe gt5 will come to the 360 first by this rate....... ha ha ha
GT5 is not needed go look at 360 Forza 2 it is far superior and comes out sooner..
This is probably why the game is going to be a year+ late... awesome news Capcom....
I love MS strategy.
Step 1: Make a console (Xbox) and canabalize yourself to gain a brand image, name and a piece of the market.
Step 2: When you realize that you cant beat the competitor, forsake the current console and pump all your resources into making a next gen console and get it out before your rivals.
Step 3: Now that your the first to market and your still canabalizing your console sales convince developers to make exclusive titles and convince exclusive titles for your competitors to switch to multi-platform.
Step 4: If you see any competitor come close to your sales (aka wii) announce development of your next console...
Step 5: If your not winning by year 2-3 bring out the new console in year 4 and rinse repeat until you finally win, using your companies other business units as capital funding for your console division
MS will win simply because they have a never ending well of money. Its sad really when a company so addicted to winning and controlling every market that can exist throws all the money they can to win...
Im suprised they didnt give every consumer a free Zune player and a $50 cheque to kill apples Ipod...
And when all games are multi-platform we will wait even longer while they port the game to other platforms and the dev team gets used to programming on another entirly new system...
I bet MS end goal is to be the only console in the market...
you could also say if sony hadn't made the console so expensive, or waited so long to release it in Europe then it might have a better install base by now and Capcom wouldn't need to make the game multi-platform to make a profit. I might have bought a PS3 before Xmas instead of a Wii but they aren't out over here till next week, just imagine how many consoles they could have sold in Europe if they had released earlier? Then think about how many people have 650 Euros to spare in March, and how many would have had the money in Jan... dont blame MS or Nintendo that they gave me what I want while Sony was saying ***** Europe....
jb is right. But Sony fanboys expect the developers to make games at a loss to keep them on the Playstation brand. They blame the developer and not Sony. The fact is the 360 is a strong platform and is going to be leading the PS3 in install base for many years to come. Get use to losing exclusives, that's the price you pay to have a Blu-ray player in your console.
It looks like the Sony gaystation 3 is loosing. Haha It will the next dream cast and beta max. Hahahahaha. I want to MGS4 to get ported to the 360.
Stupid Gaystation 10 year old fanboys are greedy. They say its a bad move for capcom. That is retarded. How is it a bad move if they can make more money. Its more of a bad hit to the sony fan F*cks.
YEEESSSS!!!!! i am so f****ng glad it's going to the 360 as well! man i am a true dmc fan, played em all, done em all, rinsed and repeated 100 times over! this is omega news for me,thank the heavens for capcom! ok,BUT THERE IS A GOOD REASON FOR THIS,a while back microsoft actually gave capcom some money or something like that, thus xbox 360 gets those killer games, microsoft is thinking that if they have those on their console then its sales will go up..DAMN RIGHT! but i can imagine how pissed off you sony fans must be though, that's one hell of a serious blow, but fear not,you still have metal gear solid and that will be your path to salvation.
Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are pretty much exactly the same, seen any video comparisons? armored core 4 looks pretty much the same on both systems,so quit your whining sony fans, your ps3 isnt any better or worse, brand these words into your mind,EXACTLY THE SAME.

now all these multi platform games gotta get down sized from 25 gigs to 9 gigs just because bill gates wants it on his low end xbox 360 with no hdmi port and no hd dvd support for games.. when developers get tired of 9 gig or multi disk games then they will be exclusive, the same reason ffvii went from n64 to psone .blue ray is the future!!!!!
25 gigs LOL you must want 20 hours of FMV and wallpapers because thats all you will be getting on the other 20 gig.. and LOL no HD support on games!! Oh forget it.
resistence + 15 to 20 gig
gears of war + 8 to 9 gig
which game's better ?
does your gig calculator mean anything?
imagine gears of war on a 25 gig dvd bigger levels smarter ai more voice overs no need to download levels that dont fit on a standard nine gig so now imagine gears running on an 8 core processor with 25 to 50 gigs dual layer bd rom...!!!!
Blu-ray does not mean bigger levels! If Gears or War needed more space, then it could be spread over multiple DVDs!!! Blue Dragon is 40-50 hours gameplay spread over 3 DVDs!.
Smarter AI also has nothing to do with space. AI depends on CPU power (BOTH general and arithmetic), RAM and code. Whilst the PS3 is capable of twice the floating-point power of the 360, the 360 is capable of up to 3 times the power of the PS3 for general code. Both consoles also have the same amount of RAM (512MB), so expect AI to be about the same on BOTH (it balances out).
More voice overs? Yes it's possible if the game is on ONE disk only (and it's easier to manage), but if the game is spread over multiple disks, then again, this will not be the case.
So to address your original post. Multi-platform games are NOT getting down sized and it's foolish to assume this. If a game is so big that it can't fit on one DVD, then the 360 will require multiple disks whereas the PS3 version needs just one. THAT'S ALL.
Also, downloadable content is becoming more important as this gen progresses, which means more and more of our game content will be stored on the HDD (take GTA4 for example, with it's exclusive episodic content).
So stop making excuses. Last gen, multi-platform games were not down sized because of the PS2 and GC, instead, in most cases, the XBox had the best version thanks to space and power. The PS2 version had the space but suffered due to less power and less memory, and the GC had the power but often suffered due to less space and less memory.
If the PS3 has all the advantages you claim, then it should have the best version of multi-platform games. However, given what we know about both consoles, expect to see little (if any) difference since both are similar in terms of power and memory, with disk space issues resolved through multiple disks.
from my experienc in playing games and reading developer interviews lots of developers including hideo kojima and the developers of resident evil 4 wanted to add extra content to thier games but they couldnt because of disk space example resident evil 4 had fake widescreen on camecube to compress the textures in the game and make it look smoother on two 1.5gig mini disk while the ps2 version had full widescreen and bonus missions and weapons which has nothing to do with the systems power ..
if you read all the hideo kojima interviews he states that he would have added more content to his games if he had more disk space
people always complain about load times so imagine if the people that complain about load times have to swap two or three disk to play games that fit on one blueray or hd dvd little thing like that bother .so where im getting at is that u can get 1080p textures uncompressed 7.1 surround sound uncompressed bigger maps more cut scenes which games like devil may cry and metal gear take advantage of so when developers start to need more space thats when theyll take advantage of blue ray so until then no more unfinished games like oblivion on 360 which u need to download textures that didnt fit on the disk just so it can look as good as the ps3 version and im not making this up developers need memory so if u want a 3 disk blue dragon go ahead .i want a one disk final fantasy with non compressed 1080p texturs for a real full hd experience..soon all developers will go 25 gig then 50 gigs in about 2 to three years cause sony is still launching thier system in time developers will come back..
ps ..i love games not systems for all u fanboys cant wait to play halo 3 i baught crackdown 4 the beta !!!
Unfortunately, I'm at work right now with my manager near by (I'm taking a risk right now!), so check back several hours from now and I'll have an answer for you. :)
remember n64 had more power than psone and they had better first party games with no load times via cartridge with the maxx of 512 megabite only two games maxx it out/ zelda majoras mask and resident evil 2/ps1 ran 750 meg cdroms and for a 32 bit system metal gear used 2 cds with no cg at all in game cut scenes abes exodus 2 cds final fantasy 4 cds resident evil 2 cds and the list goes on and on all games get bigger as they make sequels no false assumptions im a real gamer fo many years i dont just play game i analize them compare them play on all systems i have soul caliber 2 for all systems xbox is my favorite version if xbox had hd dvd or blueray support for games not for movies i wouldnt complain about any game going multi platform i just hate the fact the we pay 60 bucks for half a game then gotta pay for the rest of it by downloading texture patches and levels that were suppose to make it on the cd
so if u can exlain why 9 gigs is beter than 25 to 50 gigs for HD gaming go ahead im all ears/eyes lol u sound like a smart guy maybe HD games should be on cdroms lol....
imagine gta4 with as much soundtracks as my 30 gig ipod and still have enough room on one disk to make a complete game the possibilities are endlesss
The whole problem I have with your arguement is that you claim and I quote "all these multi platform games gotta get down sized from 25 gigs to 9 gigs just because bill gates wants it on his low end xbox 360".
Now in all your replies here, not once have you shown where this has happened in the past. Where had the XBox version of a multi-platform game been 'down sized' because of the PS2 and GC? As I mentioned, the XBox version was usually the best version, with better textures, effects, more polygons etc, so if your claims about the PS3 is true, then IT SHOULD ALSO BE THE BEST VERSION, including textures and effects, not a version down sized because of the 360.
So your whole arguement that for today's multi-platform games the PS3 version will be down sized because of the 360 is completely FALSE. Take the Darkness for example, because of the extra space on Blu-ray, the devs will include complete TV shows which gamers can watch on TVs within the game itself. So how is the PS3 version down sized in this case? And other devs have there own ideas of how to use the extra space on Blu-ray. Which leads neatly onto the other point.
>"exlain why 9 gigs is beter than 25 to 50 gigs for HD gaming".
I never said it was better, more space equals more CONTENT, not better content, but much of that can be achieved on multiple disks on the 360. Hence I said it wasn't the problem YOU make it out to be. For example, take your arguement that gamers will complain about multiple disks, you say this in one post, and then in your next post you list a number of popular games from previous gens which were on multiple disks!!! So like I said, it's NOT a problem for gamers, especially if the game is great!
Also, the idea that Blu-ray means uncompressed textures at 1080p is nonsense. Compressed textures are used not just because they save disk space, but MOSTLY because they save space in video RAM and reduce bandwidth (i.e. quicker to load). The PS3 has just 256MB of video RAM, therefore if you compress your textures to 1/4 the original size, not only do they take 1/4 of the time to load, but you can squeeze 4 TIMES AS MANY TEXTURES in video RAM and still maintain the same quality overall. All modern GPUs have hardware support for decompression, hence they can deal with compressed textures without losing any performance.
That's why despite all the space available on Blu-ray, a minority of PS3 games support 1080p natively, since RAM and processing power are the biggest limitations to it's use!
For streamed content, such as voice overs for realtime cut scenes, then yes, devs can use uncompressed PCM audio if they want to during cut scenes. This doesn't necessarily improve the quality over over formats, but it does reduce processing power requirements, and therefore can be helpful (but it's not for ingame sound effects because these have to be stored in RAM ready for IMMEDIATE use).
Finally, I couldn't help but notice your Resident Evil 4 comments where you ignore the fact that the PS2 version was released long after the GC original and therefore benefitted from the extra time. Despite this, the textures were INFERIOR on the PS2 version despite being released on DVD (due to the reasons I've given about RAM and power), and the lighting effects were inferior to the GC version too.

"The only real differences here are the slightly downgraded visuals. On the whole, texture quality is lower than on the GameCube and everything appears to be a little "muddier" on the PS2."
Hmmm, if that's my quick reply....
yes u quoted me so u understand that in my first comment i said games gotta get downsized not down graded so all im saying is that developers will put the same amount of content in a ps3 game thats in a xbox360 just cause its multi platform it never happend in the last gen games because ps2 and xbox both used dual layer dvds most of your replies are true i agree with most of your replies but even if uncompressed textures on ps3 will not mean longer load times since u can download the entire cach data to the hard drive like virtual fighter no load time in that game. all im saying is that 4 a true hd gaming experience un need a full hd dvd with hdmi out thats why there pumping out a 120gig hdmi xbox 360 all they need is another update to use your hddvd player for games until that time comes ill buy my multi platform games on the ps3..thank 4 your replies i have a life too lol but im on vacation so i can go at it all day and night lol...xbl gamertag "saaboner"
by the way,to even it out it would only be fair to have dead rising and lost planet ported over to PS3,lost planet isnt so good but dead rising is something PS3 owners should at least get to play
i own a 360 and 360 only at the moment, but i do believe the PS3 could definitely do with all the help it can get.....microsoft surely does have a foolproof plan with their game console, because like a poster said before, they have an infinite well of money pretty much, and well, sony fans can make up whatever they want from that, but i reckon.......i dont reckon nuthin, just that xbox live is the biggest point in grabbing a 360,such a large and robust service!
they it would only be coming ps3 because the company said nero structure could only be done on ps3. plus devil may cry is not a online multi player game. on the xbox it would suck ballzz. ps3 does everthing you could ever want. xbox is only for shooters.
i am a ps3 owner and truley hate to see all these negative comments torwards this game going multiplaform. quit crying and grow up i mean especially hi for saying 360 is only for shooters so far in Thier lineup i wouldnt mind blue dragon, lost oddesey, eternal sonata, dead rising, too human, mass effect, fable, crackdown, allen wake or even a port of tmnt arcade and NONE of those games are shooters. I failed to mention that they are getting or have dmc4, virtua fighter, resident evil 5, ace combat, smackdown, lumines, ridge racer, guitar hero, and who knows how many more games i enjoyed on the ps2 and will continue to enjoy on ps3 but hey more gamers can enjoy them just like i can. did i mention none of these are Shooters?? go get a job and go to school get a mind of your own i love sony but i wont pick up this game cause its going to the dark side.

Just so you Know, Allen wake was originally announced for the PS3 but mister moneybags came around and....... well the rest quite evident. I just hate how MS keeps Throwing their eight around and stealing exclusives from Sony.
how do you think sony got GTA exclusive on the PS2? by being mates with Rockstar? bags of money have always been thrown around but Sony chose not to throw their money around this time (no licencing for rumble?) so they're losing out
Its just a DMC4 its not the end of the world that it is goin multiplatform!Im a 360 owner and i have more than just shooter games!Plus Manny u just are popin up everywhere doggin gates u must be some poor as person in a shack! He makin money thats all! Get a job
i'm worried (and angry) because i think that capcom its not gonna desing the game especially for the specifications of the ps3 (even if they have said that they will for each console)but i dont think they will use the space of the blu-ray because they need to fit the game in a DVD for example so i think its gonna be just another port.
And i am angry because they have many great xbox exclusive games and they dont even think of making them multiconsole.
And in my own opinion i just say that i prefer more Kratos than Dante ;-)
Honestly, if developers want to design games to be cross platform, that's cool. But if they get the *****ing idea that they don't have to work harder to produce a top quality game, because they can't focus on just keeping it under 50gb in the final product, then we are going to get some ***** games. If they make a game for the PS3, then release it in crap form for everyone else, no problem :)
No game will ever be 50 gb in this generation more like 5gb and the rest will just be pointless fmv etc. It would take Years upon years to write a game of any large size and that is why the Blu Ray is becoming mainly a movie player first and a game loader last...
Just like when CD drives were first being sold for computers. A single speed external drive was over $500. Before that the average game came with a few 1.44mb floppy disks. A good computer at that time had 4mb ram, a 25 mhz processor with no real graphics card, and under 100mb of hard drive space! Developers had no idea what to do with 650 mb of space and made a lot of stupid games with lots of full motion video and speech. If anything it made the developers lazy and the games worse! The extra space provided by Blu ray or HD-DVD is not needed this generation for gaming.
i modded my first xbox so when i ripp games to my 300 gig hard drive i can see how big the games are the average game ran from 2 to 3 gig but high end games like splinter cell ran about 6.5 gigs and now were in the high def era where the average game runs about 7 to 9 gigs lair for ps3 will use up 4 gigs just for two levels if the game has 8 to 12 levels you do the math and its only the ps3's first year!!!
This totally sucks. Capcom is not helping Sony by doing this. Microsoft's obviously buying everyone. That's why i hate them
Traitors!
