The Xbox 360 may still not have outsold the Wii, but it's definitely leaving the PlayStation 3 eating its dust in Japan. The latest numbers show that Xbox 360 sales in the region has exceeded the PS3's by several thousand for the second week running. While the Xbox 360 continues to outsell the PS3 though, its sales experienced a very sharp drop from the previous week. At that time it sold around 28,000, while the latest numbers show it only sold close to 14,000. The drop is believed to be caused by retail inventory problems, but it's not clear how much of a factor that was. Perhaps - it the inventory problems weren't the overall cause - the huge downward spike might indicate that the sudden burst in sales might just as suddenly wink out. Remember, Sony wasn't worried at all about the Xbox 360 price cut, saying before that they have no doubt that the Xbox 360 will have a sales increase, but that it's not sustainable in the long-term. Were they right? At any rate, we'll know in the following weeks. In the handheld scene, it's the calm before the storm as sales decline in anticipation for the PSP-3000. Sales experienced a drop of around 1,500 from the previous week. Here are the sales data for Japan for the week ending on September 21:

WTF @ the NDSL? Gees, that thing is like water! Although I don't doubt it. Just image how many of those are RE-sales. As in, my NDSL is broken (three times in warranty, once out of warranty) and now I need to buy another one :(

I've had 2 DS's since launch and another when mario kart came out, and none of them have busted yet....and one of the launch ones has been used very heavy and treated like crap...

Eh, I've never even heard of a DS Lite breaking beyond the hinge problem. even then nobody I knew with a DS lite had that problem (US only prob?).
Got a white DS now but thinking about buying another so I can mod it. And in the good way, with some subtle etchings in the outer case and a faded (and sealed) graphite artwork on the inner bit. Should be larvely.

My DS lite is still perfect. The games on it are just as horrible as the games for the Wii, so it doesn't get too much use.

Multi-player on PS3 is free, but it's not a very unified service yet....many games still have game specific character names and you cannot add someone to your friends list from within the game...it just adds them to the game friend list (MGO for one) Also i've yet to see the "players met" thing ever work....Still PS3 does have a few online advantages, mainly when it comes to hosting a server and the options you can set....along with browsing servers by ping instead of "good bad average" (for most games)
F uck i'd pay a yearly fee just to have sony start packing headsets in with PS3's....that by far is the worst....the lack of voice (I know it's not lacking, but it might as well be with how few ppl have mics).....although not listening to 14 year olds thinking they are cool is nice.....

The only time when PS3 starts making noice, it is when you do a ventilation test or if its 35 degree with the sun light directly on it. The blu-ray player is MUCH quieter than the DVD player on Xbox. These are facts and cnnot be denied.

That's false. Mine never sees direct sunlight and the fan is on full blast a lot of the time.
Mine is on 24/7 and runs F@H home most the time so add THAT to your list.

All I know is that I already have a 360 and I will get a PS3 soon so count me in for one of the future sales figures. In the mean time I am enjoying my 360 but there is no reason they can't co-exist. New PSP then.. meh my 1001 still working fine with all the iso =P
