Over in Japan, Tecmo has announced an official release date for Team Ninja's Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, the PlayStation 3 version of Ninja Gaiden 2. They're also prepping a couple of special editions for the game.

The launch has been set for October 1, and Tecmo is throwing in a Premium Starter Set for those who pre-order for JP¥ 7,800 (US$ 81). The set will include a guide book full of artwork and strategies as well as a download code for an original Ryu Hayabusa costume.

Those who have even more money to burn can opt for the Premium Box which will be available for JP¥ 9,980 (US$ 104). This edition will contain a copy of the standard version of the game, an original soundtrack, a special sleeve, and an original accessory set as well as the stuff in the Premium Starter Set.

So far, this is for Japan only. No word yet on a US outing for both sets but GameStop has a blank listing for a Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 collector's edition. Maybe it's for one of these two.
