Who says Sony's PS3 is just for hard-core gamers? These Japanese ads for the console should just be about right to refute that assumption.

Veering away from the usual "The-PS3-has-excellent-graphics-and-can't-be-beat-cell-technology" angle, the advertisers decided it's about high time that we start viewing the PS3 as something that can also bond the family for fun. Collectively, the ads put a stress on spending quality time with your family, and of course, your PS3.

You need not lock yourself up in your room to enjoy the game. You can, in fact, do it, with just about everyone in your household cheering you on. And wouldn't that be more fun, too? Anyway, be it in the form of polishing your Sony gadgets together, or pretending to be a MotorStorm rider aboard your bike with training wheels, PS3-time most definitely takes your family-time beyond the usual.

Dad: If you polish hard enough, a genie will come out and grant all your wishes.
Son: I wish the genie will take Dad away so I can have the PS3 all to myself.

Girl: The PS3's cool, Dad. Not you.

That photo thing that the Playstation 3 can do is ausome where it turns ur ordinary photos into actual photots that look like they have been printed out.

I don't have my ps3 yet... damn shortages... anyway, I didn't know that it would turn the pictures like that... my grandmother would really like that feature - she hates the digital photos displayed one at a time... can't stop and look at anything, and she feels they don't look like pictures anymore...

That would be sad if Japanese families really were like that.
