Back in May, Midway Games announced that director John Woo would team up with movie actor Chow Yun Fat to produce Stranglehold, a game that would see Fat reprise the role he played in 1992's Hard Boiled.

Today, Gamespot reveal that Midway plans on releasing the game as a launch title for the PlayStation 3, with an Xbox 360 version following in autumn 2006.

Midway also shed some light on their strategy for next-gen consoles in general. The company don't plan on ditching the current generation of consoles just because a new wave of hardware is coming out. In fact, as far as they're concerned, the PS2 still has plenty of life left in it, and plan to support the console for a further four years by releasing a combination of big-name titles and games aimed at kids.

"Plan to release as a PS3 launch title, with an Xbox 360 release in Autumn 2006."

So is that some sort of hint that the PS3 will launch in the US before Autumn 2006?
