Variety recently published an 'interview' with
Howard Stringer the CEO of Sony. In this interview Variety make a few
presumptions and speculations about the PS3, and came to the
convincing conclusion that the PS3 will be delayed till the end of
this year. However, Joystiq has pointed out that much of the
speculation of this delay is purely from Variety. |

As a engineer, I think the Blu-Ray feature is the most easy task for PS3. Just need a simple firmware (software).
Sony is just correcting bugs, and add funcionality. And Testing, Testing, Testing and Testing.
PS3 has to many features (PS2 compatiblity, Wireless network, 8 wireless joysticks, LiveService, USB Support, Pen-Drive Support, HDD-Suport, IPOD Support, Digital Camera Support, Mp3 and Atrack3 plus MEDIA CENTER, MPEG-xVID-DIVx Media Center....)
I don't mind it veing delayed, just gives me more time to save up money, (not saying that the rumors are true)
i think there are about 3 varieties of thinker with regards the ps3 launch,
optimists who believe what sony say and are readying for a spring launch
realists who are weighing it up and probably reckon it's in summer or something
and pessimists like those weird 'analysts', who believe the end of the world is nigh and that ps3 will come late 2007... or something equally bad.
they say be a pessimist so you're not disappointed, but if you're an optimist you see nothing to be disappointed in. i'm still enjoying the pre-launchnews build up though.
Yea, the delay would be bad for most people but for me, i dont care cuz i dont have enough money...yet
But the plus is that Sony strides for perfection in there products, unlike SOME (ms Cough Cough)
Here are my two cents on the PS3's future:
Release date:
On or after May 23 (release date of Blu Ray) but before the end of June
Price:
There will be Core and Premium versions of the system just like with the Xbox 360, priced at $299 and $399 respectively.
The Core version comes with one controller and no hard drive, while the Premium version comes with two controllers, preloaded games, and an 80GB hard drive.
