David Jaffe, game developer - Image 1It will be remembered that several hours ago, game developer David Jaffe let loose with some choice words of the "M" rating variety regarding certain statements made by a gaming site due to an abruptly announced delay for Calling All Cars. David further mentioned in the blog that he was leaving the blogging scene for an unspecified amount of time.

Now, in case the readership is wondering which site had put the developer in such a bad mood, we've just picked up word of a letter posted at Joystiq, addressed to David regarding the whole matter. Here's an excerpt:

First, a discussion on the simile which we presume set you off: "Like a little girl struggling to keep her favorite doll out of the garage sale bin ..." Obviously, neither you nor we have ever been a little girl, but we imagine that it's pretty tough to part with something so dear. A garage sale bin -- though we can see the implications to a "bargain" bin -- is just the most likely way said little girl would be forced to give her precious friend away. Perhaps a better simile would have been, "Like an overprotective mother carting her still-suckling toddler to kindergarten for the first time," ... actually, you know what? Let's just forget about the similes for now and concentrate on what else we wrote.

The letter followed up with an explanation of the article that may have offended the dev, along with a request that he (David) would stay in the blogging scene. Given it's Joystiq's assumption that they were the ones who upset David, we'll just have to wait for the developer's comments on the matter - or if Joystiq is indeed the site in question. The full letter by Joystiq should be available in the read link.

i agree, they hyped this a lot here at QJ...and I don't know why. I've seen the trailer and wasn't impressed. If they offer a free demo when this game gets released (which is when?) then I'll check it out. Otherwise I'll just forget about it.

Word to QJ: Stop overhyping stuff like this. There's no need to make a big deal about the PSN's arcade games just to try and compete with the 360's arcade news.

 » WHAT??

After seeing the trailer of this I went and bought the PS3 like 2 hours after! it looks amazing and might be the only thing that seperates it from the 360!! They should charge the price of a normal game for this thats for sure!

» god this guy is a gimp

he's a big cry baby. so you messed up and your game is actually crap... get over it.

calling all cars looked like junk anyway, a throwback to micromachines but without the coolness.

and now he's somehow making a name for himself by complaining a lot, way to go.
if the news is that he's finally buggered off then lets just leave it there, after all our suffering he's shut the hell up and now hopefully he can get back to making games - and might be able to atone for 'calling all cars'.

that Calling All Cars is loved by both IGN and the guys over at 1UP...

mediocre review from GameSpot and the crap from Joystiq and suddenly you have a bunch of idiots claiming the game is crap and assuming everyone is giving it bad reviews
