Kingdm Hearts

Apparently, life after Kingdom Hearts is an altogether different adventure for Tetsuya Nomura. Speaking to Dengeki PlayStation, Nomura intimated that his next game won't be a Kingdom Hearts sequel, but an entirely new series.

"First, it's not Kingdom Hearts III," Nomura told Dengeki PlayStation. "Of course, because we're calling it a 'new' series, it won't be KHIII. Also, it's a series, so it probably won't be just one title." According to Eurogamer, this new title is still expected to share some similarities with the popular Kingdom Hearts series, though.

Nomura also hinted that some of the characters in the Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix secret movie will be connected in some way to the new series. Square Enix is expected to shed more light on the new project later this year.

Ran out of disney stuff?

Dude there's loads of Disney movies they haven't gone anywhere near. They've only just started older movies to with steamboat willie and Tron. There's a huge backlog there they could use, and Disney are constantly making new films they could use, they could also use the worlds of the summons from KH II like they did with the KH summons. And there's nothing stopping them reusing old worlds with sequel movie storylines.

They'll get to about KH XIV before they run out of Disney movies.

The combo that surprisingly worked out very well.

There's still some Disney material they could eat up, but it seems like these games are getting progressively darker, and more 'Square-ish'.

"How well the Disney properties will fair in upcoming games" is probably what Nomura is considering, hence the new direction.

Still, I have faith because (let's be honest) Nomura has taken the most bizarre concept of all time, and made it WORK.
